Relaxing Roost

5 of 5
If you are looking for a pristine view of both the seashore and sound in a quiet community, this is the perfect place to call your temporary home. I spent a week at this retreat and relished the seclusion from the everyday bustle. I busied myself most of the time enjoying the view from the wrap around upper deck, walking along the quiet beach, or driving down to visit the small towns between Nags Head and Cape Hatteras. Although a quiet location, a quick ten minute drive north and you will find yourself amongst outlets, restaurants, and family-friendly activities along with eclectic, small artisan shops. I definitely am already planning my next visit and refuse to stay anywhere else!

Fantastic vacation spot!

5 of 5
Nags Head Haven was the perfect house for our fall family vacation. South Nags Head is a great location, with grocery stores and outlets just a few minutes away. We enjoyed dinner at Owens Restaurant and had drinks at the Outer Banks Pier. The house is nicely decorated and makes it feel like a ‘home away from home’ vs a rental house. And it’s kid friendly and comes with a high chair and pack n’play. The bedrooms are spacious and mattresses were very comfortable. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to produce wonderful meals. We liked the availability of the 2nd refrigerator on the first floor, near the front door, we were able to store extra drinks and food for the week. The keyless entry was a bonus; we didn’t have to worry about picking up and dropping off the keys at a rental office or worry about who had the keys. Everyone could come and go as they wished. It rained a couple of the days while we were there, so the cable and high speed internet were much appreciated. I had to work a couple of the days and enjoyed the desk area in our bedroom and quietness it offered while the rest of the family enjoyed the house or went out on an adventure. Even though we were there in the off-season, we enjoyed the beach too. Our girls took their sand toys and had a blast! The great room on the top floor offered amazing views of the ocean and Roanoke sound from inside and outside on the wrap around deck. We enjoyed the deck for morning coffee, a quick afternoon nap and the hot tub at night while watching the stars. Even with a house full, the layout is spacious and well organized. You can join everyone in activities or find yourself a quiet space to relax, like the hammock on the back deck. Even in the off-season there were plenty of activities for our girls. The Wright Brothers Museum, the Island Farm on Manteo, etc. Communicating with the owner was very simple through the Homeaway website and he was quick to respond and provide answers to all of our questions. We look forward to planning our next stay at Nags Head Haven!

Loved this pet friendly house!

5 of 5
We stayed at this rental from Sept 27th-Oct 4th. We had a total of 4 adults, two children (7 and 13) and two small dogs and had more than enough room! The house had true personality and plenty to keep you entertained or relaxed. In the evenings you can actually hear the waves, which is awesome. The house is only a short walk to the beach and close to enough activities to keep the kids busy. The kitchen was very well equipped, they even had a crock pot and decent knives. Brand new appliances. Towels and bed linens were included, we only had to bring beach towels and dish towels. They also had an outside storage room full of pool toys/floats, beach umbrellas, a beach cart, a few beach toys and 3 beach chairs (two were pretty small and pretty much on the ground, but worked fine for us), volleyball (the net was not set up so we didn't mess with it), basketball etc. Our dogs loved the huge fenced in back yard. Just a heads up for people bringing pets they do not want them on the furniture or in the beds and they are not allowed in the pool. Only a few minor things....I would recommend bringing a cheap shower caddy or something for the master bath room, there is no where to put your bar of soap and shampoo and stuff. Also the master shower was a little hard to figure out and it took forever for the water to get warm. Also in a couple of areas the rugs had a strong urine smell, but I kind of expected that with a pet friendly place. Nothing that would keep us from renting this place again!
