This was our first visit to the OBX. Having been a Southern girl vacationing in Destin with sugar sand beaches, I was leery. however, the accommodations, general locational energy, and ease of travel was spectacular! The first thing I must mention pertains to the owner. Prior to arrival, recognizing the weather was to be subpar, the owner of this property called me to ensure I wanted to still reserve his place since the high was expected to be in the 20's and the windchill below 0 in the evening. Additionally, he called to check on us to see if we needed anything prior to arrival and even suggested a few restaurants to hit should we be hungry on our way in! Mark's level of integrity and customer service went above and beyond in my opinion. He gained my respect and we will definitely share our experience and his properties with anyone looking to visit Nags Head (I've already raved on Facebook with links!:o) And, we are planning return visits!
The nitty gritty: The accommodations were clean, newly renovated and easily accessible! We arrived later in the evening, but, because of the ease of access we were not bogged down with the frustration of having to rely on someone to let us in which was very nice. Once we arrived, we did end up running into the owner, Mark, which was a nice surprise as well. When we walked in, my 18 and 16 year old were very impressed with the space. The kitchen was fully furnished with anything one might need including a large stock pot for some crab boiling (I got nosey and looked through every cabinet for future reference) and a Keurig! We ate out most meals, however, there is a nice sized table we played games on each night which was awesome! The very next morning, & every morning, I was awakened to a spectacular view of the stunning sunrise directly over the ocean! Even though the weather was exceptionally cold (the bay was frozen in places when we left) we stayed warm and cozy with all the luxuries of being "at the beach". We did venture out each day and braved the ridiculous wind and cold to enjoy a few local restaurants that were still open for the winter as well as some tourist attractions, i.e. Bodie Lighthouse, The Dunes & Wright Bros. There was a surprising number of other tourists out & about as well. We also hit a couple of thrift shops which are prevalent! Overall, I can't rave enough about our first experience in the Outer Banks! Mark, THANK YOU for providing exceptional customer service and an amazing experience!
