Heaven's Front Porch

5 of 5
This was our second visit to Haven in the Hills, and it only got better as we went along. The cabin, of course, is incredible - squeaky clean, beautifully appointed, and decorated by Judy with country artistry and flair. It overlooks five beautiful ridges, each an ever-changing display of misty greys and purples in the early morning, through the green, red, and gold of the autumn afternoon, and into the deeper twilight blue of evening, which is best experienced from the rocking chairs and picnic table out front. There's a fire pit beside the house, perfect for roasting marshmallows and staring dreamily into the flames. The silence here is enviable: no traffic, no noisy neighbours, only the sounds of bird song and the occasional inquisitive bark from a dog across the valley. We watched a doe (hopefully the same one as last year) pick a delicate path down the hillside without dislodging so much as a stone. The town of Murphy is lovely, and we were fortunate to catch the Fall Festival at the John Campbell School, where we added to our collection of Smoky Mountain pottery. Dinner at Shoebooties was a highlight, but the food available at Ingles is so good that we cooked every other meal at home. Anyone fortunate enough to spend a week here will go home rested and refreshed, and looking forward to the next visit.

Cabin exactly as pictured and described.

5 of 5
The cabin was very clean, nicely furnished, and decorated like a cozy cabin should be. I found the cabin to be exactly like the pictures and description except that there was a really nice comfy new sofa. The kitchen was huge and well stocked with everything including foil, plastic wrap, plastic bowls with lids for leftovers, zip lock bags, paper towels, etc and even some spices. There was plenty of laundry and dish soap. The bed was extremely comfortable. The sheets and bedding were nice. The fire pit was very large and there was plenty of firewood laying all around the woods to collect and burn. The cabin was far enough from the road that you rarely noticed any cars passing - even when you were outside. The AC worked great. There was plenty of hot water. The water didnt have a well taste. The cabin was easy to find and the driveway was easy to navigate even in my tiny 2wd car. Debbie was super nice and she refunded my deposit promptly. This was one of the nicest cabins I have ever rented. I personally rely on these reviews when selecting a cabin so I am completely honest so others can also choose wisely. The only thing I would change about the whole experience was maybe get some new bath towels. They were by no means bad but some nicer fluffy ones would be great. I know it seems petty to complain about towels but there really isnt anything else that could be considered a drawback. I would happily stay here again and am telling all readers that you will not be disappointed if you choose this cabin. Thanks again Debbie for being such a great hostess and providing me with such a lovely place to stay on my trip to the mountains.

Great views, great cabin, great owners - at a great price!

5 of 5
Having stayed in Murphy many times before at a different location, I was hesitant to try a different property this year. I could not have been more happy with this decision. The property is very well maintained and has all of the amenities you could need. It provides great views from the deck for kicking your feet up and watching the sun set, or going out at night and trying to catch a shooting star or two. It's location in town is far enough away to keep things quiet, yet close enough to get to the local grocery store or walmart within 10-15 minutes. Whether you're into driving/riding some of the best roads in the country, hiking, whitewater rafting, ziplining, cavern and waterfall hikes/tours, boating, off roading, fishing, etc., this area has it all within an hour or two. The owners could not be more helpful and willing to answer/assist with any question that you may have, and the property is priced very reasonably. Thank you again, Claudia.
