Just completed stay. Chalet well stocked with kitchen tools. Heavily wooded lot. Plenty of fireflies, birds, and squirrels. Big plus is paved roads to property and paved parking pad. Roads to many other chalets are dirt, gravel, and steep. This chalet sits on incline but is navigable by any driver. Masterbedroom is open loft. Keep in mind if more than one couple will be occupying chalet. If you like sitting and reading on screened rooms, open deck, or covered porch this place will be just what you are looking for. Cell service, as owner indicated, is nonexistent. Direct TV can go out frequently during storms. Land line static heavy. WiFi is excellent. Icemaker is loud and needs turned off before going to sleep. Dogs would have good time. Owner has even supplied food and water bowls. Very pleased and will be staying here in future.

We spent 8 nights at Castle McKenzie and absolutely loved it! It was majestic yet so warm and homey! The grounds are fantastic and I imagine they're even more stunning in spring and fall when the trees aren't bare. Even in the cold wintery weather, we had visits from deers and wild turkeys right on the property. The covered hot tub was a great respite from the cold, and the indoor fireplace was also very nice. The decorative details are marvelous and every day we discovered something new. Highly recommend this little piece of Scotland in the mountains!
