refreshing solitude

5 of 5
Perfect spot. Private, quiet, and beautiful. McRae was very helpful and accommodating, welcoming our baby and two dogs as well. The house is well furnished with a great kitchen, and McRae took extra efforts to welcome us with flower arrangements and even set the dinner table and had a bonfire ready to light in the outside fire pit. The location is wonderful. Far enough out of Asheville to be quiet and secluded, close enough to not be a pain to head in to check out a brewery or restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the town of Marshall too, with the downtown area an easy 5-10 minute drive away with enough bakeries, cafes, bars, and galleries and such to make for an easy way to get out and about without a lot of effort, and convenient to have a supermarket only a 5 minute drive from the house. There were plenty of nice hikes within 20-30 minutes drive, and apple and berry picking too, and while we didn’t take advantage of the more adventurous outdoors activities, it seems that other activities abound (whitewater paddling, ziplines, etc.). Overall, a wonderful time in a well-appointed, secluded, beautiful place with attention to detail by a caring and conscientious owner. We hope to return soon.

Beautiful Home

5 of 5
My wife and I recently stayed at Knollwood while attending a family reunion in Madison County, NC. The house in situated in a quiet wooded area only 2 miles on a paved off the the main highway. The house is immaculate and we were treated like royalty. We inadvertently left something in our room and the owners directly shipped it to us. We stayed in the Master suite while our son and daughter in-law stayed in one of the other bedrooms. Access to the main section of the house was ours and we thoroughly took advantage of it. I would highly recommend it to all who would seek a peaceful setting and comfortable surroundings. Will definitely be returning.
