Every wonderful thing said in the previous reviews of Creek 'n' Woods IV about the cabin and the hosts, Tom and Sue, is pure truth. Our family members gathered there last week for my parents' 60th anniversary and when we arrived we found home-made chocolate chip cookies and a scrumptious cake decorated especially for them. The kitchen was not only stocked with basic supplies and condiments, it was equipped better than my own at home. Tome and Sue have thought of everything you might need or want. The cabin is clean and neat and looks brand new. It has a great gathering space with a long dining table, but also private and semi-private spaces upstairs and downstairs. Sitting, rocking, on the deck, listening to the waterfall, we realized why the mountains are called "Smoky", as the mists rose and fell in the valley. Every room is lovingly furnished with fascinating pieces - among my favorites, the bathroom sink that is ceramic and glazed like a beautiful piece of pottery: the bed and table that are made from smooth honey-colored tree trunks; the clock in the dining area that defies description - you just have to see it! There is so much light coming in from the windows all around and it does truly feel like you have the mountain to yourself, but not in a scary way. There is a two-car garage which was handy on the couple of rainy days. The road to the cabin is steep but well maintained and we got a lot of exercise walking down with the kids to play soccer in the play area down below. Tom and Sue were but a phone call away when we needed them, with suggestions on where to shop or get a pizza or some medical attention. We went mining, rafting, ziplining, swimming in waterfalls, hiking, pubbing, and trolley touring around Asheville. We visited the Cherokee Museum and the Biltmore Estate, went to a Tourists base ball game, and much more, and every day we got to return to our comfortable mountain aerie. It was a wonderful place to be. No one wanted to leave at the end of our week, and we will certainly go back. I can't wait!
