Cedar Log Cabin - Weekend Stay Sept 2014

5 of 5
my husband and I and another couple rented the cedar log cabin for our visit to Little Switzerland for a wedding. We were looking for a place that would allow our three dogs to stay with us so they could come enjoy the mountains with us. We definitely were not disappointed by the cabin. The cedar cabin is so cute and quaint, perfect size for a weekend get away. Everything was extremely clean and the cabin was fully stocked with towels, blankets, plates, etc to make our stay enjoyable. The cabin is secluded and on private property so there is no traffic going in or out. There is not much of a view as it sits back in a wooded area, but that isn't what we rented this for. Bob and Judy live just up the road and they came down after our arrival to introduce themselves and make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Extremely nice people!! The only thing that I would suggest is an upgrade to the grill as it was difficult to start and a little rusty which gave an odd flavor to our food that we cooked. We would definitely come back to the cabin for another weekend as it is not a bad drive and very close to Crabtree Falls, which is a beautiful hike, and to other areas with fun things to do!

We had an amazing time!

5 of 5
The views of the mountain range and the hiking trails were truly lovely. We could not have picked a better place! Our first time in NC and what a delight! We loved spending time on the deck. Whether in sunny or foggy weather, in early mornings or late nights, the view was wonderful. We shared photos and our experience with all our friends. Rick suggested several places for hiking, dining out, or driving tips on the windy roads. The beans and red & yellow raspberries from the Rick’s garden were terrific. The cabin has all amenities you need and is very cozy and neat. If you are there on Friday night – make sure to check out the Seafood and prime rib buffet at the nearby Little Switzerland lodge. Thanks Rick

WOW, beautiful views and wonderful creature comforts!!!

They say "better late than never" (so sorry Rick). The reason I can still write this review, after almost a year, is because every detail about our trip and every detail of Rick's warm and comfortable home makes me smile whenever it comes to mind along with how kind he was. He even shared some of his wonderful organic vegetables with us (thanks Rick). Also, the reason I am so late writing it is that I thought my husband had done the review and he thought I had and we were both horror stuck that neither had!!! Anyway, all that said and done, Rick was always quick to get back to us and answer ALL our questions and we had a lot:) On our arrival day Rick met us at the post office (easy to find) and lead us to The Pinewoods. How much better service could you ask for? From the moment we arrived we knew we had made a great choice!!! We found the home to be warm and cozy with the wonderful fireplace, (yes, we did use it every night even in August) the comfortable furniture and beds, oh and we never needed any airconditioning! Each evening was spent grilling out on the deck, but not before we soothed our tired bones in the refreshing hot tub with a nice glass of wine. After we ate we sat back with a roaring fire going and reminisced about our day then before bed I was off to my nightly soak in the bathroom whirlpool tub. The bathroom is quite large and has a separate shower which suited my husband. We spent most of our days at the house just relaxing with a good book since we had already been to Little Switzerland a number of times over the years and had done most of ALL the many neat things there are to do there, especially up along the Blue Ridge Parkway (really easy access to the Parkway from the house). This trip was to relax, spend time with each other and just enjoy the peace and serenity of the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains and Rick's home affords all of that and more. We loved how private and secluded it was yet we were close to every thing we needed (groceries, gas, restaurants, etc.). I can't express any better how enjoyable Rick's home was and what a treasure he is:) We highly recommend this home and we have stayed in many, some of which, let's just suffice to say I was not too enthusiastic about:( You'd WILL NOT be disappointed with this choice!!! Thanks Rick, we think the job you have suits you perfect, you are a great host!!! You will certainly not have to worry about traffic disturbing your rest.
