Breathtaking views

4 of 5
The views from The Perch are absolutely amazing! Upon our arrival, the valley was filled with clouds and fog and the majestic view from the deck was breathtaking. Rick was a great host and greeted us on arrival and briefed us on several area attractions. He also shared some delicious homemade soup with us and stopped by to make sure we had plenty of firewood for our last evening at the cabin and even offered us a little later checkout since the cabin was immediately booked behind us. We hiked to Grassy Creek Falls from the cabin and upon our return enjoyed a nice soak in the hot tub! The location, just off the Parkway, is great; however, we've often found during winter travels that portions are frequently closed so be sure to have an alternate route planned rather than relying on the Parkway. Little Switzerland looked to be a quaint town; however, everything in that area was closed for the winter during our stay. We will definitely visit again during the season. Thanks again Rick for your hospitality!

Secluded but Accessible

5 of 5
We stayed the first week in October and had a delightful time. The property is tucked away nicely but yet very easy to get to and very close to all the attractions. Very quiet and peaceful, a great place to relax. Everything in the cabin worked well and we found it very clean. Rick was a very gracious host going out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. Little Switzerland is nicely centrally located to all the major areas we were interested in: Mount Mitchell, Crabby Falls, Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain, Blowing Rock, and Ashville was less than an hour away. The only con was that our AT&T cell service would only work from near Spruce Pine. But the WiFi in the cabin was very strong and reliable, so plenty of Internet. This place is definitely a do-over!

Cedar Log Cabin - Weekend Stay Sept 2014

5 of 5
my husband and I and another couple rented the cedar log cabin for our visit to Little Switzerland for a wedding. We were looking for a place that would allow our three dogs to stay with us so they could come enjoy the mountains with us. We definitely were not disappointed by the cabin. The cedar cabin is so cute and quaint, perfect size for a weekend get away. Everything was extremely clean and the cabin was fully stocked with towels, blankets, plates, etc to make our stay enjoyable. The cabin is secluded and on private property so there is no traffic going in or out. There is not much of a view as it sits back in a wooded area, but that isn't what we rented this for. Bob and Judy live just up the road and they came down after our arrival to introduce themselves and make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Extremely nice people!! The only thing that I would suggest is an upgrade to the grill as it was difficult to start and a little rusty which gave an odd flavor to our food that we cooked. We would definitely come back to the cabin for another weekend as it is not a bad drive and very close to Crabtree Falls, which is a beautiful hike, and to other areas with fun things to do!
