Gang of Four

5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay with terrific views, winding roads, and great food. Rick was a great source of information on the area. Be sure to check out the Knife and Fork restaurant in Spruce Pine-the food and service were second to none! The cabin was comfortable and clean. Will definitely return!! Thanks Rick, loved the collard greens from your garden.

WOW, beautiful views and wonderful creature comforts!!!

5 of 5
They say "better late than never" (so sorry Rick). The reason I can still write this review, after almost a year, is because every detail about our trip and every detail of Rick's warm and comfortable home makes me smile whenever it comes to mind along with how kind he was. He even shared some of his wonderful organic vegetables with us (thanks Rick). Also, the reason I am so late writing it is that I thought my husband had done the review and he thought I had and we were both horror stuck that neither had!!! Anyway, all that said and done, Rick was always quick to get back to us and answer ALL our questions and we had a lot:) On our arrival day Rick met us at the post office (easy to find) and lead us to The Pinewoods. How much better service could you ask for? From the moment we arrived we knew we had made a great choice!!! We found the home to be warm and cozy with the wonderful fireplace, (yes, we did use it every night even in August) the comfortable furniture and beds, oh and we never needed any airconditioning! Each evening was spent grilling out on the deck, but not before we soothed our tired bones in the refreshing hot tub with a nice glass of wine. After we ate we sat back with a roaring fire going and reminisced about our day then before bed I was off to my nightly soak in the bathroom whirlpool tub. The bathroom is quite large and has a separate shower which suited my husband. We spent most of our days at the house just relaxing with a good book since we had already been to Little Switzerland a number of times over the years and had done most of ALL the many neat things there are to do there, especially up along the Blue Ridge Parkway (really easy access to the Parkway from the house). This trip was to relax, spend time with each other and just enjoy the peace and serenity of the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains and Rick's home affords all of that and more. We loved how private and secluded it was yet we were close to every thing we needed (groceries, gas, restaurants, etc.). I can't express any better how enjoyable Rick's home was and what a treasure he is:) We highly recommend this home and we have stayed in many, some of which, let's just suffice to say I was not too enthusiastic about:( You'd WILL NOT be disappointed with this choice!!! Thanks Rick, we think the job you have suits you perfect, you are a great host!!! You will certainly not have to worry about traffic disturbing your rest.

A Great Spot in the Mountains to Get Away!

5 of 5
We stayed here several nights while visiting family in Spruce Pine. The property is immaculately maintained. The owner was very friendly and always responsive to any questions we had. There were only two of us but I believe this home will sleep at least six. It is an eclectic home…. the original part of the home is very old but in GREAT SHAPE. It has been added on to, and has a huge family room/den. There's a game table and big screen tv in that room, and that is where we spent all of our time. However, the older section of the home also has a formal living room, so if you brought a family here, the adults and kids both have seperate areas to use!! The kitchen is well stocked for cooking meals. We only cooked breakfast while there, but you could cook most anything you wanted with the pots and pans supplied. The property is beautiful!! The home is tucked at the bottom of a mountain and there is a pond on premises. The morning we were checking out we watched a black bear bound across the open field next door! How exciting!! The peace and solitude of this property is wonderful if you looking to get away from it all. Because there were only two of us, and we spent a lot of time with our family in Spruce Pine, we didn't really get to enjoy this property as much as we would have liked to. The front porch begs one to "sit a spell"!! I can not emphasize enough how clean this property was! And!…. there's a washer/dryer which we found so convenient. THANKS STEVE for a great place to retreat to, and lay our heads after a long day in town!! (-:
