I wondered if the photos would hold true to the actual house when we arrived. You can depend on it! In fact, there were things about the house and location that were even nicer than described!
One concern for us were all the stairs. If you have older family members, make sure they are situated on the lower level. It has it's own full kitchen, baths, 3 bedrooms as well as a living room, the incredible media room and the door from the living room opens right on to the lower deck. The deck is furnished with couches and chairs & even a swing to relax in. The 3 older members of our party were housed "down" stairs and it was perfect.
We had our coffee on the porch each morning and enjoyed the quiet and peaceful view of the lake. I use a cane and would have liked to have had a railing going down the steps to the dock. Nothing fancy needed just a "steadying" railing on one side of the steps to come down or go up. This isn't a complaint by any means, I suggest it only as an enhancement to the experience of this wonderful home.
We had ages 8-7yrs old and each one of us were as busy or as relaxed as we wished. With so many areas to go to in the home, you'll never find yourself stepping on each other, yet the upstairs dining areas were perfect to gather us all at meals.
The large kitchen was a dream to gather everyone around with music or the bigscreen TV to watch while preparing a dinner. The large center island was perfect for preparing meals and not bumping into others coming and going. I wouldn't change a thing in the kitchen setup. Everything was high quality - dishes, pots, pans, glasses, and appliances. I would suggest replacing the silverware due to the fact that they weren't of the same quality as all the other items... but, they was certainly enough silverware for whatever purpose was needed in cooking and eating.
I would encourage renting the poontoon boat as an extra since we used it every single day for a week. Sometimes to go to a meal at a lakeside restaurant, to fish in one of the many secluded inlets (catching as many fish as we had bait for...[small] but so exciting for everyone to throw a line in and within minutes, reeling in a feisty fish! We went for late afternoon rides and cooled off with the breeze, even caught in a small rainstorm, we felt safe on the pontoon. I think you would regret not being able to explore the lake as a group on the pontoon.
Thank you for sharing this home with our family.
