This was our first trip to the Outer Banks after going to Myrtle Beach every year but two since 2003 (the two years we didn't go there we went to the mountains).
We were very happy with this property overall. It was very affordable for us and we were able to take our dogs, saving a ton on kenneling costs. It was by far the cheapest we could find to fit our family with 3 small dogs as most places have a one or two dog limit, no matter the size.
We have four children, all of whom enjoyed digging in the sand and body boarding in the surf (as did their parents!). We went to two of the OBX lighthouses and have reason to come back for the others. We combined the horse tour in Corolla with our trip to Currituck and then went to Big Al's in Manteo on our way back from Bodie Island. There are several mini golf courses for the kids to enjoy, another reason to come again as we only went to one.
I gave it only 4 stars because it isn't directly oceanfront but the view isn't obstructed and we weren't so far back that we couldn't hear the waves. In previous years at Myrtle, we've had to look over side roads or the pool complex so we really didn't get the effect we wanted as we had road noise and people noise from the pools to drown out the crashing waves. The condo could use some updating to the flooring, the bunk bed rails, and the master bedroom mattress, but none of these things would prevent us from returning. Jessica is so easy to work with, and I've already alerted her to our high probability of returning next July.
We'd prefer to stay in a stand-alone house but those are more than our entire vacation budget. This condo has no side neighbors, just above and below, so we didn't experience any noise other than footsteps overhead. We did not experience the pedestrian noise (possibly from Goombay's) as another person experienced. It was fun to watch the scuba divers and spear fishermen at the shipwreck and didn't have to pay for a dolphin tour as several showed up just a bit north of us, which was great for the kids.
The beach is kind of narrow for lack of a better word, but we didn't find that to be problematic. We had plenty of room to frolic in the ocean but the afternoon was much deeper much sooner than the morning was. That was interesting but neither good nor bad.
None of us wanted to leave yesterday, and we're all excited to return sooner rather than later. Thank you, Jessica!
