We truly had a wonderful time. The weather was mid 80's the whole week, which felt humid outside during the day, but it was so nice and cool at night. The house is just as described: clean, fully equipped, and very comfortable. The beds have a memory foam mattress topper that sleeps wonderfully! The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is because the main floor A/C did not work the whole time were there, which was not a big deal as we were out doing things during the day. The owner was very quick about communicating with us and had the unit inspected while we were there to make steps towards replacing/repairing it. The master bedroom Jacuzzi tub worked wonderfully and was a welcomed relaxer after playing all day. We went this home with our kids ages 10, 8, 6, and 1. The older ones loved the dock as they jumped in the water and played during every possible moment. The paddle boat and kayak provided were also used everyday. This house has the dock on the sound, but it is actually a canal that leads to the sound, so there are no waves, under currents, and the boat traffic is nota concern. As a matter of fact, one day we actually took our own kayaks that we brought with us to paddle from the Kitty Hawk Maritime Reserve (swamp) all the way to Kitty Hawk Bay and then across the bay all the way to this house to dock our boats. Total distance was maybe 10 miles, but we loved it! That day was our favorite day for sure! Bring your own toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and shampoo. Everything else is provided at this home! Beach access is 3.5 miles away and is a straight drive right across the main beach hwy. Ocean water is likely to be cold, but it was not crowded while were there. Restaurants to check out: Jimmy's Seafood Buffet and Pamlico Jacks. We went to both while there adn enjoyed Pamlico Jacks the most for a nice date night. Also, if you happen to stay here during a full moon, watch the calendar and get tickets to the Bodie Lighthouse a few days early to do an evening lighthouse climb during the full moon. We totally wanted to do that and called the day before the climb only to find out that the climbs were already booked. Jockey Ridge State park is a great place to go with kids too (free entrance and parking). The sand dunes are beautiful and very large! We enjoyed running down them racing our kids.
