This was our fifth annual stay at Stone's Throw and the experience was great as usual. We love "our" little getaway cabin. The two bathrooms are a luxury for the two of us--and would be fine for four people. The cabin has everything we need. The heating system is incredibly fast and quiet. The gaslog fireplace adds a romantic touch.
The setting is very good, private, and quiet. It is outside the delightful village of Highlands, but close enough to walk in to the shops, restuarants, and, of course, Kilwin's Ice Cream. The museum of Visual Arts always has stunningly good exhibits. The Botanical garden has a great trail through a forest with labeled trees and beautiful flowers in season. It's a great hike.
Besides the cabin, our greatest motivation for going to highlands is the many wonderful hiking opportunities--up mountains to beautiful vistas and to the numerous waterfalls in the area. But coming back to the cabin, taking a great shower, cooking a terrific meal, and settling in for an evening of reading or watching TV or one of the DVDs provided, tops it all off. We hope to return for many years to come.
