We had a great vacation

5 of 5
We stayed the summer of 2014 (the exact date I gave is an estimate), and it was quite an enjoyable stay. The house was clean and cozy, everything worked, and had no problem finding it. We spent most of our days away, and the cottage make a good jumping off point to see many of the attractions of the mountains, many are close to an hour away, but that's country living for you. The creek on the other side of the road is lovely, and the deck makes an enjoyable spot to spend a hour just watching the falls. Roger was great about recommending places to go, and the burger place up the road was fantastic. He also suggested where I should go fish, and the little creek produced a 21 in rainbow for the efforts, and a 18 inch brown. We visited Linville falls, Grandfather mountain, the rhododendron park, among other things. The Linville caverns were kind of a fun, albeit a bit pricy. The only down sides would be 1 bathroom, which really wasn't a big deal, even with three children. And you are very far from most anything, bring food with you, because the nearest grocery store is about 40 minutes away. But if you want some quiet time, it is very nice. Thanks for the stay Roger!

Could not have been more perfect!!

5 of 5
I rented the cabin as a Christmas gift for my college son, who asked for 'the gift of time'. The cabin could not have been more perfect for a weekend of peace and reconnecting to the most important commodity in life...time. Far more well appointed than expected, much more spacious than the beautiful photos show online. The setting is peaceful, across from a lake in the mountains. The cabin is located in an area where 4 wheel drive is not necessary to access. The owner, Des, was immediate in responses with information and very helpful and professional through the rental process. Everything was perfect. I plan to rent the cabin a couple times a year for my son as a way to exhale and reset. Thank you Des! Truly...thank you for a perfect gift.
