25th Reunion with college buddies

5 of 5
This is our second year renting the Gathering Place for our annual reunion with friends from Appalachain State University. This is without a doubt the BEST place we have rented for this event and Peggy Murray is a dream to work with in setting up our plans! The cabin is delightful and great for our group (this year 4 couples). Plenty of room for all; kitchen well stocked with crock pot and every other appliance you might need. Plenty of dishes. Bathrooms great; plenty of towels. Washer/dryer great too (we had been traveling for 2 weeks prior to arriving). Great deck and the weather was perfect for sitting outside. The colors on the trees on the mountain got better each day we were there; it was beautiful. Our check-out day turned into a semi-disaster for us - our rental car keys got lost (found after one couple got home 2 1/2 hrs after leaving, necessitating a return trip by them). The phone in the cabin was invaluable for that experience trying to figure out what we were going to do etc. Luckily we got out after our friends returned with the keys!! Peggy was helpful when the TV/dish wasn't fully working when we arrived; it was fixed within an hour. We will definitely return next year. We'll call Peggy, as soon as we have our dates!!! Thank you for a beautiful place to unite with our friends.

worth the money

5 of 5
This house is just as beautiful as the pictures. Truly high end kitchen with all the tools you'd need to host Thanksgiving or Christmas - not to mention everyday meals. Despite our October occupancy adults and kids swam in the lake, jumped of the diving board and enjoyed all the boats. The pontoon boat was in great condition and a wonderful way to explore the lake. I was on crutches during the stay and used the main level master, which was beautiful. I was able to make it down the slate stone filled steps to the dock and ride on the pontoon boat despite my injury. We hiked at Lake James state park _5 min drive to trailhead - and ate dinner in Marion at Low Country restaurant 1 night but otherwise no one felt any need to leave the property. Would love to come back again.

Rocky Bottom cabin is the definition for RELAXATION!!

5 of 5
I surprised my wife for our 5th wedding anniversary with a trip to Rocky Bottom cabin for a much needed getaway. As we drove down Redbud Lane, the pictures posted on the web of the cabin were all true!!! We parked in the back and we scoped out everything all around the cabin and then went inside! WOW!!!!! There are not enough words to describe such an exquisite place to withdraw from the fast-paced world and recharge your soul! This was our first cabin experience and it was definitely a great treat! The homemade bread was awesome and, as other reviewers stated, made excellent french toast in the morning. I had emailed Bob inquiring about this and that to see if those items would be supplied and as stated in the description of Rocky Bottom; everything is indeed supplied. One only needs to bring food, clothing, and toiletries. The biggest problem we could see with the cabin is that there was not enough time to do and enjoy everything. We only stayed two nights and we should have stayed 3 nights! LOL. If someone is looking to get off the grid for a couple of days then Rocky Bottom cabin is the place to go! Watch shooting stars on a clear night and take a refreshing dip in the pond next to it. We are already trying to find a date next year to go back! Thank you Bob and Gail for attention to detail in your decorating choices. It was AWESOME!
