South Village 14 in the winter

5 of 5
Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Accommodations were beautiful and the jacuzzi tub was wonderful. Directions for the heat were confusing and for the first 6 hours the rooms stayed cold, until we finally figured out the directions were for the summer guests. After that it was fine. Because we like to cook not having a stove was difficult. Manager responded on 1/28/2015: We think this guest rented two South Village condos. We manage South Village 7. It does not have a jacuzzi tub but does have an oven. The heat works great too. We hope this stay was enjoyable.

Shore Retreat is a Treat

5 of 5
Driving 3000 miles for a three month stay to this Island Retreat is my description of bliss. My arrival left me in awe of the gorgeous rain and storms I witnessed during my first two days here as I hadn't seen rain in a long time being from Southern California. My first sunny day I awoke to many dolphins at the end of the neighbors dock. Many fins, I could see right from my bed, as they played in the water. Without fail, daily they came until it became common place, which sounds obsurd . In awe again, I realized early on this place is special. The sunsets and sunrises, they are unmatched from this porch. My friends and I watched the sun set and turn into darkness only to see the sky fill with stars brighter than I'd ever seen. Between 8 and 10 at night, we watched the moon set on it's back into the very quiet and perfectly still sea. Moon setting was a sight I'd never seen before and once again, I was in awe. There were the nights that I awoke and from my bed saw falling stars drop into the sea as if they waited for me to wake before making their way to earth. My music was the 100 year old Mulberry tree that stood just outside the kitchen window. Eagerly waiting for the breezes in the afternoon just to hear the lovely sounds of clashing fall leaves is a sweet memory I dearly cherish. My Indian name for this place is, Falling Stars At Pelicans Post. Pelicans and gulls, all day, I loved watching them take flight and make their attempts seeing which one would overtake the post for a perch. Then there was my lighthouse friend awaiting my arrival home every night. The light just greeted me in the darkness along with sound of the rushing tides. At the end of the island there is a boat that will take you to Cape Lookout Lighthouse. This cottage has views galore, a peaceful soul, and it's in a naturally quiet setting. The churches down East, the people of this island, the stores, the history of this region, the boat builders, the local fisherman all make you feel like you are in a Nicholas Sparks movie. I left my life on the west coast for an extraordinary experience on a tiny island called, Harker's Island. I found that the people here are living in a place that we all dream about. Nobody knows about, YET. Here, you must enjoy the sweetness of these blessings along with the water activities. I call it, Falling Stars at Pelicans Post or Back in Time at the Peace and Plenty. Jo Ann Mangum Vacation rentals, calls it, Shore Retreat.

Family Trip

5 of 5
We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Launching Pad over the week-end. It is a beautiful home. Lots of room. The appliances looked brand new and the carpet in the pictures have been replaced with wood floors. My son brought his boat and there was plenty of room for him to park it. The kitchen is stocked with anything you might need to prepare a mill. I would stay here again and am actually hoping to next month.
