Another Great Stay at Buttercup!

5 of 5
This is our third stay at Buttercup Haven within the last six months...and I don't have enough nice things to say about it. The owner has thought of everything you might need to make the stay enjoyable. The decor and finishes are first class, the linens are high-end and cozy, the kitchen is incredibly stocked with everything you might possibly need from appliances, glassware, cooking tools, multiple sets of cloth napkins, and a great selection of serving dishes; the magazines on the coffee table are current and regional; there's shampoos, soaps and hair dryers in every bathroom; laundry detergent in the laundry room; wonderful cushions and pillows for all the outdoor furniture; dimmers on all the lighting in the kitchen, living area and dining areas...it feels like you're visiting a friend's home...a friend who has a very nice, well-decorated home with beautiful flower gardens and landscaping, multiple porches to choose from, and great views in every direction! I've always received a phone call within a few hours of our arrival from the owner to make sure everything is as expected. On this trip, we were even surprised with a spectacularly decorated 10'+ tree for the holidays and tasteful decorations on the front door and around the house. I love the fact that the owner not only had beautiful decorations for the holidays (during our fall visit there were pumpkins), but that the decorations were white lights, snowmen, and snowflakes...all winter fun that would have worked for anyone's religion. Another example of her incredible attention to detail. We're looking forward to the next time we can visit.

Thanksgiving in the Mountains

5 of 5
Thanksgiving 2008 .... The chill was in the air, but when family gets together and snuggle around either the indoor fireplace or the outdoor fireplace, the warmth generated by both the fire and the reminscing of family times past brings a coziness and comfort that warms not only the body, but the soul .. The incredible attention to comfort details were unsurpassed .. Impeccably clean, with all of our needs given the utmost attention .. State of the art kitchen and bathrooms ... All we needed to bring was our clothes and some food..The scenery breathtaking .. our wish was the owners command ... they bent over backwards to accomodate our family of 10 ( ages 11 months to 60 yrs) during this special time ... Rooms large enough and interesting decor that gave us not only space for the family to congegrate, but also gave us individual space for "quiet time" A stone's throw from entertainment and restaurants... yet privacy at the utmost.. To hike to the top of the mountain gave us a glimpse of Heaven .. Watching the fog roll up from the valley was breathtaking .. There was something for all ages to experience that created memories that will be close to us for a long, long, time to come.. This place is excellent for a family get together, or a romantic get-a-way for couples of all ages.. The only minor inconvenience was having to take our trash to the local landfill ( but it was on the way to the local Bi-Low grocery store) .. The owners treated us in such a way that we felt they were caring for our comfort as if we were their best friends .. If you can't tell that we enjoyed ourselves so much that we plan on returning at a later date, you haven't been paying attention to this review !!!

"Gem" of a Home

5 of 5
This home was everything we were expecting (and More!) We came for the Gem mining, but found so much more. Each evening we came home, we actually Felt at Home! The place was CLEAN, roomy, quiet neighborhood, just beautiful! Beside gem mining, we went White Water Rafting(our first time), and took an overnite trip to Wilmington to see the Battleship North Carolina (Awesome!!). Each nite we sat on the deck and watched the sun set over the mountains, then we had the Ping Pong Competitions (the youngsters won). This was our first vacation rental, and if all other owners are as Friendly, Helpful, Gracious, and Considerate as Tom & Carol, we will definitly rent again! If we are ever back in NC we would surely stay here again!
