Wow – Jackson County is a gem – even in mid-November. This was our 1st visit to the area. Working with the owner , Mike, for reservation and payments was easy – good communication. We arrived after dark on Thurs. night, good directions and easy to find. Drive is steep and a compact/mid-size may have difficulty. We had a small SUV – No problem. The view in the morning was fantastic! The views and property are BEAUTIFUL. It is quite and secluded and the 4 wheeler a real plus for exploring the many trails. The house is clean and comfortable but somewhat dated. The front porch wrought iron tables/chairs are pretty rusted but usable. If you are looking for peace and quiet and can do without ALL the comforts of home, this is a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Basic kitchen items available but not many pots/pans in order to cook anything but simple meals. There were only two of us - so cooking for 5 would be tough. Bathroom needs some work – wallpaper peeling. We travel quite a bit and have used VRBO instead of hotels and I believe the $125/day is a little high based on the condition of the house ($80-100). With that said about the property, Murphy stuck Friday morning – half way through the 1st shower the water stopped. The Property Manager Troy was easy to get in touch with and he responded to our concerns. He checked the water source, but by evening he wasn’t able to get it fixed. He contacted Mike and we were able to relocate to another one of Mike’s properties about 30 minutes away. Great response and concern about our visit from Troy! Overall I think this property and our 1 day experience here was not a 2 Star, but not quite a 3 Star. The owner and property manager are 4+ Stars!
