Great little place right in the Cape Fear Rive!

4 of 5
This is a great little place to stay for a vacation or just a quick stop over. It is located within 10 minutes of Elizabethtown right on the Cape Fear River. The good points about it: 1) Very clean and well kept building and grounds. 2) Obviously conscientious owner who looks after the place well and is busy with continual upgrades. 3) Plenty of activities - nice hot tub, horse-shoe pits, fishing dock, canoe and other activities right there. 4) Very nice newly renovated masters suite on its own level with superb private bath with large shower and jacuzzi tub. Room for improvements: 1) It rained a lot during our stay which made the dirt road almost inaccessible to anything without 4wd. A few loads of gravel and a good grading would remedy that pretty easily. The owner graciously offered us his own 4wd truck to use during our stay. Fortunately we already had a 4wd. 2) There are a lot of stairs at this place and no handicap provisions. Our senior grandma found it a challenge walking up and down many flights. No problem at all for the young and fit. 3) There is a good, well-equipped kitchen, but only a small, three person table. There is a second 4-person table on one of the decks. It would be nice to have a larger picnic table on the deck to accommodate a sit down meal for a larger family. 4) There are plenty of porches and decks, but it would be nice if at least one of these was screened in. There were plenty of biting insects with the wet weather and proximity of the river. 5)
