<3 the Sea Grace Cottage

5 of 5
This was our second stay at the Sea Grace Cottage, and we couldn't be more pleased with the accommodations. The location is nice, quiet, and private, and only a short drive away from the area attractions. I love being able to have all the creature comforts of home like the kitchen and laundry. We ate out some, but also were able to cook at "home" too. The enclosed porch with hammock and comfortable wicker furniture are a lovely bonus. We enjoyed sitting out there and sipping our coffee in the mornings. I would have been content to stay curled up on the porch with a good book and a hot mug of coffee our entire stay. The property is clearly loved by it's owners. It is clean and comfortable. Sea Grace Cottage does not have cable, but it does have a tv and dvd player, so bring your own movies (there are some at the cottage) and don't forget the popcorn. Wi-fi is available too. I wish I could give the Sea Grace more stars! We will be back. <3

Lovely and CLEAN for a relaxing stay!

5 of 5
Would definitely rent again. Did I mention CLEAN? If that's important to you (or you have allergies) this house will suit you nicely. Lovely, tasteful decor. Every amenity. We don't travel to watch TV but it was March Madness so the many high quality TVs were very much appreciated. Terry is a wonderful host who is attentive to every detail. Incredible double decks right on the water - set back just enough to retain privacy while still watching the dolphins. My son used a telescope on the top deck and it was an ideal stargazing scenario. The house is so comfortable that the one rainy day was a joy spent reading and napping and sitting on the covered deck watching the rain and the surf. Took us a few days to get to know the town but found fun eateries and nature trails and even line danced (Salt Bar - Weds 7-9pm free). On your way out of town you MUST stop at Yana's in Swansboro and no matter what the meal - order the apple fritters (first) - out of this world and fun place. Thank you Terry for providing us a relaxing retreat to celebrate our anniversary!

Sweet Retreat

5 of 5
We spent a wonderful week at Tree Spirit in December and I can't think of a better way to restore and attune and exhale before the busy holidays and new year. The retreat is exactly as described, except the kitchen is even better outfitted. We cooked several meals a day very comfortably. The location is just perfect--so close to the beach and the Intercoastal, and bike/walking to the things you need while still feeling like you're "getting away". We saw dolphins on 5 of our 7 days here, and a meteor shower on our first night. This is a really special place! Also, BRING YOUR BIKE or rent one there. The island is totally bikeable and we used our bikes for all our errands and adventures. Flat, paved, easy riding for cyclists of all experience levels. Some of our highlights and recommendations: --Surf City Crab (508 Roland Avenue, Surf City, NC 28445): Great place to buy fresh seafood. Ask for the local stuff if that's what you want. We had fresh local shrimp, flounder and swordfish and cooked it up at Tree Spirit. My husband is a chef and he was really impressed with the fish. (This is not associated with the Crab Pot restaurant that shares the parking lot.) --Swingbridge Beer and Wine (http://www.swingbridgebeerandwine.com/): Good craft beer selection (lots of NC brews) and wines for all price points. The owners are delightful and really knowledgeable about Topsail Island history (and the pirate lore!). Lots of beer on draft and wine in the enomatic so you can sip and shop. --Quarter Moon Books (http://quartermoonbooks.com/): A gem of a shop with a sunny patio and sweetheart owner and staff. They have live music, a nice selection of used and new books and a charming little wine bar (craft beer selection, too). --Herring Outdoor Sports (http://www.herringsoutdoorsports.com/): A nicely-supplied shop that rents bikes, kayaks, fishing gear, sells licenses and tackle as well as a lot of fun souvenirs and clothing/shoes (and not just touristy stuff: it's like a mini-REI store. High quality). The owners got us all set up for surf fishing and were really helpful and friendly. Chris was very responsive and accommodating, very kind to work with. We can't wait to come to Tree Spirit again!
