The words restorative, impressive, and magical don’t begin to describe the experience of staying at Creekstone Cabin.
Honestly, I was a bit nervous before I arrived. What if the cabin wasn't as it was portrayed? What if this was one of those experiences that was great on paper but fell short in reality?
As it turned out, I had nothing to worry about. Not one darn thing - except for having to leave this paradise at the end of the week.
The cabin is tucked into a "neighborhood" - but not like the neighborhoods where I come from. Instead of cookie-cutter houses lacking in character, there are adorable and well-tended homes, each one more charming than the last. Creekstone was the most charming of all - truly the images on the web do not do it justice.
The parking area is small, but it was perfect for our needs. We fit a huge quad cab truck, a large Jeep, a small trailer, and four motorcycles in the space with no problems at all.
The landscaping is sublime - everything is well maintained with a natural feel - moss and native plants grace the property, which is a welcome relief from the suburban sameness of 1/4 inch lawns and home owners' associations. Adding to the loveliness of the property are the paths - carefully laid out and edged, so you can walk down to the burbling creek, where you find a lovely bench on which to enjoy a summer lunch or just sit and watch the waterfalls.
As for the cabin, what more could you want? The deck is superb - complete with a grill, and when you raise the umbrella, simply plug in the fairy lights for automatic ambiance. We never ate a single meal indoors!
Speaking of indoors, the amenities could not be better. Though I would choose a different dining table (I kept banging my knees on the leaf), everything else was just right. I even quickly mastered the spiral staircase! The cabin is not only in excellent condition, but so well appointed. The towels were luxurious, the bed sheets were clearly high quality, and we had all the amenities of home. Actually - more than that, since at home I do not have an awesome surround sound system for a glorious flat panel tv. This was perfect for enjoying the occasional movie at the end of a lovely day.
My favorite part was having the windows open at night and the soundtrack of the creek lulling me to sleep. I usually don't sleep well in other beds, but here I had the best sleep of my life. I definitely didn't want to leave at the end of the week, and I'll return ASAP!
