My husband and I VRBO a good bit. I can't say how very pleasing this choice was. For me, I first want to know that my home away from home is clean (you never know his others keep their homes). This may have been the cleanest feeling home we've chosen. Many thanks to Beth!
The location of the cabin is both remote and in a neighborhood. The trees give one a sense of being all alone...but a neighbor is generally not too too far away. The dog-walkers we saw walkng Oast our cabin were friendly but never intruded into our solitude.
There are two bedrooms. The downstairs is a double. Upstairs is a queen. Navigating the stairs in the night seemed treacherous so we chose the double...wondering how we'd sleep in a smaller space. Open the bedroom windows. The creek provides the most soothing white noise ever. We didn't have a bit of problem with the space! You may want to take a nightlight if you are up in the night for bathroom, etc.
I cannot say enough about the porch. We only left it to sleep or take day-trips. Looking our into the national forest and hearing the creek rushing by...all from the porch...really, it's indescribable peace. Take a cushion for the chair or a folding chair you prefer.
The cabin is situated well for day trips. We went in to Asheville (30 mins), Brevard, Hendersonville, and Waynesville (all a little further). The one travel tip I would provide for this location is to bring everything you need if you're going to eat in. The closest grocery is ~20 mins away and it isn't really well stocked if you're craving something specific. There is a great grill at the cabin. You'll need charcoal.
Finally, my only complaint about the cabin is that the cat shown in the photos is not resident in the cabin. ;o)
We plan to return!! Many thanks to our host who was very helpful by phone before we left! We were sad to leave.
