Very happy with the setting, cabin and hot tub.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Serenity Falls. The cabin is off of a dead-end road so there are almost no traffic sounds. The driveway has an interesting curve just before a fairly steep incline, but we were able to navigate it without 4-wheel drive. The cabin was very comfortable and clean. No central air or heating but the propane gas heater easily kept us warm. The hot tub was great - especially as it was right beside the rushing stream. One warning - you had better like cats and dogs if you stay here (we do) because there were two of each from a neighboring house that kept us company whenever we were outside! We would recommend this cabin to anyone who likes seclusion in nature.

Away from it all

Late October is a beautiful time to visit the Smokey Mountains and the Nantahala National Forest. Mornings were crisp and clear and the afternoons warmed nicely. The Creekside Cabin is surprisingly luxurious for being in so remote an area. "Cabin" is a misnomer as it really is a luxury home. The cabin was very remote, even for us (and that is what we seek in a vacation rental). It takes awhile to get down the narrow winding roads to the cabin, so when we went out, it was for the day. Once we were back, we were in for the night. I would not want to travel these unfamiliar roads in the dark. I am glad we had a 4 wheeled vehicle as well, especially when traveling the back road into the NOC. The area certainly offers many opportunities for exploring and hiking. Deep Creek was busy but easy to reach from Bryson City. We opted not to take the train ride as with it being peak season, it was just too crowded for our tastes. But we found many parks and marina's (no boat rentals available this time of year) to explore in every direction we headed out. One of the most beautiful areas I have seen. The only suggestion I would offer to make the visit better for future renters would be to split your fire wood in burnable sizes. 1/2 split on a log is not going to burn. Luckily, we came prepared with an ax and were able to whittle it down to appropriate size for the fire ring. I really enjoyed the 2 gas fireplaces (great room and porch) but really liked being able to have a real fire near the creek.
