Brown Eyed Susie: The Only Place to Stay

5 of 5
We stayed 3 weeks in the Brown Eyed Susie and it was the perfect place for the 2 of us. Internet service made it possible to work from home during the day and evenings were spent downtown, which is a mere 5 minute walk away. Despite its size, Brevard is a bustling little city during the day (even in off season) and the house sits on a busy through-way. However things are very quiet at night so don't let that deter you. Everything is within walking distance from the property and the Greenway trail head is only a short bike ride away. It's an awesome location! There is true pride in ownership and the owner's have gone to great lengths to ensure all guests needs are met. The house itself has recently been renovated top to bottom and they did a spectacular job. The kitchen comes complete with granite counters, high end appliances, lovely dishes and a suitable selection of pots and pans. There's even a mixer if you want to whip up a treat or two! (Note: If you are a cook, bring your own knives/sharpener and possibly a larger cutting board.) The bathrooms have upgraded fixtures and custom cabinetry that offer plenty of storage. We chose to sleep in the back bedroom and found the bed to be extremely comfortable and the pillows equally great. The owners provide a generous amount of linens/blankets/towels, plus there is lots of closet space w/hangers and a washer/dryer for added convenience. There is no garage, but a mud room off the kitchen provides ample space for bikes and additional storage needs. The owner's were super-responsive and very friendly making the entire transaction a pleasure. If you're planning a stay in Brevard, we can't recommend the Brown Eyed Susie enough. It is warm, inviting and long on charm. We hope to return soon.

A Great Place For A Mountain Escape

5 of 5
The home is everything my party and I were looking for - quiet, peaceful, relaxing and simply a perfect getaway from the city. The home is well-maintained and the owners are great to deal with. We enjoyed visiting Brevard and Asheville this fall, shopping and sightseeing, the breweries and eateries, too. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone else looking for a mountain retreat, and hope to return again soon!

Peaceful Winds

5 of 5
My parents just left to return to Louisiana. I'm just now getting around to catching up with myself. I want to thank you for sharing your mountain home with us last week. We made it there just in time to see the vibrancy of the leaves, some snow flurries, swirling winds, and then leaves floating around and falling to the ground towards the end of our stay. We went to Brevard, Mills River, and Asheville. We ate well, enjoyed the charm of Historic Downtown Brevard, and we snuggled around a fire inside for the last 2 days and nights. The view was beautiful, and the house provided for us all that we needed plus some. My parents and my husband were able to leave the city behind, relax, and breathe in some peaceful mountain air. So, thank you. We LOVE the cabin decor… beautiful quilt work, all of the iris references, the "bear" signs and all the thoughtful and special personal touches. I have to say that one of my favorite pieces was on the terrace deck. The "chandelier" over the table was brilliant. I can see that you both make every attempt to honor your mountain space and your life there with your creations. Plus we enjoyed your sense of humor. That kind of living really resonates with us. I know you will find your mountain home in good condition when you return. My father buffed inside the oven glass with ashes from the previous fire (who knew?) so we could enjoy the flames with the doors closed. We can all learn something from the previous generation. Peace, health & blessings
