Beautiful cabin, spectacular location

5 of 5
Cabin is located literally on the top of the mountain, which provided outstanding views and nice cool weather even in July. We spent most of the time enjoying the view and peacefulness from the porches. New furniture throughout the house is very nice, especially the rocking chairs on the porch. The gas grill was great and used almost every night. Proximity to Boone is close and convenient, although probably more challenging in winter if there is any snow (4-wheel drive would be a must). Basement is well equipped for a rainy day, with pool table, foosball, and nice home theater. Frankly, we could have spent the entire week at the cabin without leaving at all, it was so pleasant. We did venture out to do some street shopping in town and also drive a little bit of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Harris Teeter is good for stocking up the kitchen, as it is a little more upscale and has good quality food. Overall, a wonderful cabin and location, with easy arrangements for check-in and out. Would definitely recommend it and would like to visit again next year.

Absolutely breathtaking!

5 of 5
My entire family fell in love with North Carolina and nobody wanted to leave at the end of our vacation. This cabin managed to make you feel right at home immediately. Everything that we needed was available, or the emails that Ken sent helped us to be prepared. My only complaint is that our stay was too short!! He thought of everything in the emails with suggestions from bringing a flashlight for a late check in, to knowing how to reset the wifi if it wasn't working. Since we were not from the area, the emails with suggestions for restaurants, activities and places to visit were very helpful. I would have never thought to look at the Virginia Creeper Trails, but it was only an hour drive, and was one of my favorite parts of the trip. 17 mile bike ride? Heck yes, since it was mostly downhill, what a great day! Grandfather Mountain is a must visit as well, and was only a 30 min drive. It was very helpful to receive information about where the nearest grocery store and Walmart were as well. The cabin was amazing...I can't say enough. We all slept comfortably and enjoyed listening to the sounds of nature with the windows open. The view from the hot tub was worth the price of admission itself. We could spend time together watching TV or playing pool, or get some time away from each other if needed with all the space the cabin offered (14 hour car rides will do that!). Overall, I would highly recommend this property, it's very apparent Ken takes great care to ensure you are prepared for your stay and also follows up afterwards to ask about any concerns or ways he can make the experience better. This property is well taken care of and you can have great confidence that you will have a wonderful stay.

Closer to Heaven: A Peaceful Haven Getaway

5 of 5
This was the perfect getaway for our family...we have vacationed in Foscoe all my life, I attended Appalachian State University, and I LOVE the mountains. This HomeAway from home rental provided my husband, my 3 children, my mother (who appreciated the handicapped accessibility of the property) and I the opportunity to rediscover the peace and tranquility we needed; taking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We were not only able to enjoy the local attractions of Mystery Hill & Horn in the West, but we also took in a little shopping at Boone Mall and Shops on the Parkway; all within a short drive. During our stay we also were able to take in the wonder of Altapass Apple Orchard located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, as well as gem mining and panning for gold at Emerald Village in Little Switzerland both within an hour’s drive from Foscoe. My family utilized all that Echota had to offer with our daily trips to the heated indoor pool and hot tub, our morning hikes, as well as fishing in the stocked ponds on site. Even before our departure, we began planning our next trip to our new home away from home.
