Secluded & Private

4 of 5
I have rented this property 2 or 3 times already and it has served our family's purposes. If you are seeking a place off the main roads and a lot of distance between any neighbors for privacy and getting back to a true natural surrounding, this is it ! It is near the end of a gravel road into a very old "Appalachian family owned" valley. Being a small business owner (remodeling contractor) it gives me a way to get away from constant customer business demands 7 days a week on me and relax, and is only a 1 1/2 hours from my home to reach. If you make it to the top rear corner of the property, the old barbed wire fence property line has some massive (approx. 200 year old) oak trees as old settlers actually used to mark their boundaries that way; and you can see the ridgelines of the mountains bordering Tennessee and North Carolina going into Virginia too. And if you are up there during a weather change or fog, it can become a very spooky experience having fog roll up and over the ridgetops and through those old massive oak trees. I personally have enjoyed it as a way to get out into the woods with my sons and an area that is not commercially developed in anyway. A rustic experience overall.

Very relaxing weekend...

5 of 5
LOVE the creek! It's so clean that we could watch the trout swimming around! Love the sound of the water! Love that every single room has a view of the creek! Love the flat, grassy yard for the dogs. Loved that the porch wrapped on two sides of the house so you could always find some shade. The king size bed in the master was very comfortable and the sheets were nice! Everything you could possibly want in a kitchen was there! Very clean. We ate all our meals out on the deck. Wifi was good. TV was sufficient. It was smaller than we are used to but it didn't bother me at all. The proximity to the Parkway, to Boone, and to Blowing Rock was great! Elk Creek Road was fun to drive on. Very windy. It's close to the road but because there are so few cars, you feel like you are the only ones in the world. Very relaxing! Wish we had seen some more wildlife but we did see the trout and a heron that landed in the creek one morning. They even had toilet paper and paper towels there when we arrived. The rocker recliners were comfy and so were the rockers on the front porch. No regrets. Went motorcycle riding on the Parkway one day and horseback riding the next. Always came back by mid afternoon so we could enjoy the farmhouse and the creek.

Charming accommations in the heart of everything!

5 of 5
We rented this home not only for overnight accommodations but also to host a 2014 ASU Graduation Brunch. It was much larger than pictured and beautifully decorated and maintained. The fully appointed kitchen allowed us to cook like maniacs and the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and utensils. Parents who attended are thinking of renting for next year's graduation. Our guests could not get over how beautiful everything was. THANK YOU for sharing your home!!!!
