Wonderful condo in the mountains

5 of 5
We are a young family of 4 from the beaches of northwest Florida and we wanted to get away for some late season skiing. I searched for days on-line trying to find and affordable place to stay that wasn't to expensive and wasn't a hotel room. I found this condo and thought there must be a trick or some hoops to jump through. I e-mailed the owner and with-in an hour or so I had a response and the rate details and I mailed a check that afternoon. We arrived after a 9 1/2!!! hour car trip with my 6 year old girl and my 8 year old boy and were thrilled with the condo. The place was practically empty so we were able to park on the top tier of parking lot right next to the breezeway which made our unloading very simple. The front desk guard was a joy to deal with and we were handed the key and told to have a great stay. Now, we have stayed at some very upscale resorts and as advertised this is not exactly one of them. The building is dated but it adds to the charm of the mountain experience. The condo is older but was stocked very well with dishes, pots and pans, silverware, some paper towels and the like. I say this only because a lot of places say that they have a "fully stocked kitchen" only to mean that they have a kitchen with 3 or 4 plates and some silverware but very little to cook with. Not the case here, all that we needed to prepare meals was there except the gorceries. The new leather couch was wonderful and the view was spectacular. You look right out of your windows and view the top of Sugar Mountain. The bunk beds worked great for my children and the fireplace was a wonderful touch. A word of caution that I knew from other research but that you might want to know...there is no A/C only heat but we never needed it as it never got to 60 degrees on top of the mountain. The condo is a bit dated but we didn't mind because I didn't feel like I had to tell my children all day every day to be careful to not do this or that. It was perfectly fine with my wife and I. Also, I don't know if it was just because there were very few people there or not but the typical condo you can hear people above you or around you when they get up and walk around, etc. but I never heard anyone else and I didn't have anyone complain about my children who have a tendency to walk "heavy-footed". All in all it was a wonderful time and the condo just added to the fun. Thank you to Denise for a great place to stay that didn't break the bank and provided a relaxing environment.

Great summer getaway

4 of 5
We went up with our grandson for the weekend and then spent 2 more days alone. The house was as advertised but you can not describe the peaceful feeling of being so close to the creek. My grandson wore me out climbing the rocks and jumping in the water. I highly recommend the stay, the down side is going back to work and not constantly thinking why you left so soon.

Fantastic 3 level cabin

4 of 5
Four of us stayed here (2 couples), it would be ideal for three couples if you wanted a break, as there is a bedroom with ensuite on each level. Wasn't sure about the location of the hot tub at first, but actually it was nice to have it secluded, very relaxing. We all tried it at different times. Great views to Grandfather mountain, loved sitting out in the evening. Also enjoyed the bar football table! Lots of fun! The couches were really comfortable and the living flame gas fire worked well in creating instant atmosphere. This would be a difficult place to get to in the snow if you're not used to driving in those conditions, but for us in Fall it was great. Beds really comfy and showers and bath superb! Very clean and well turned out property. Thanks.
