Great cabin

5 of 5
This is a beautiful cabin. It is very clean and well maintained. It is secluded enough but also close to town and easy to get to. We skied at Sugar Mountain (very close) and also went to Banner Elk and Boone. We enjoyed our stay very much. I would recommend this cabin

Wonderful!

5 of 5
What a gorgeous setting, beautiful property and very kind owner! We gathered here for a New Year's break, and everyone loved the house. There was plenty of room, including a well-equipped kitchen and cozy living area. It was such a treat to have full laundry access, and to bring along our 15 year old lab. The owner was thoughtful enough to direct us to a nearby animal clinic when we needed some help on that front. The parking is a little tricky if you have more than one vehicle, due to the narrow drive way and limited parking room. We found plenty of great dining options in Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock. We also had a fun trip to the Mast General Store - worth the short drive ; )

Easy communication and beautiful views

4 of 5
We booked this house for a family vacation and had a good time. I have rented many houses through VRBO and always appreciate people giving pros and cons of the houses, so I hope this helps someone else. Pros: -Owners are very nice and QUICK to respond to messages -the house has lovely views and a great swing and hammock on the back deck. -the house has basic cleaning things in case you forget something at the store which is so awesome (some rental places we have been to have the house stripped bare) -the kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans and utensils -the house is secluded and far from most things so we would recommend it for people who want to hole up for a while and not leave the house -the house has fun toys for kids Cons - -the house is secluded and it is far from most of the major hiking places. We should have clarified this when booking but just be aware that this house is about 30 minutes North of downtown Banner Elk and then you drive 30 additional minutes from there to get to hiking places. -there is no dishwasher -the lower level of the house where the queen bedroom is is in the basement so it has a strong musty/mildewy smell and you hear the air handler come on and off. -the air hockey table needs new disks We would recommend this house but just want people to understand what they are getting when they rent it.
