One of the first properties we have rented that we would rent again. So many great points - including -
-- Location is near the "Smoky Mtn Expressway" and Blue Ridge Parkway - 5 - 10 minutes to each so very convenient but NO TRAFFIC NOISE! 15 minutes to Sylva or Waynesville, where there are grocery stores, etc. Short drive up a steep gravel road -most nice mountain properties require a much longer drive on gravel
-- Can hear the stream and waterfall well from the house but not so loud so as to overpower (cannot see them from the house at least during summer with leaves out)
-- Great screened porch running length of house with french doors to it from living room and bedroom. We just kept the doors open all the time.
-- Very quiet. Other than waterfall/stream, birds and the occassional neighbor on the small gravel road, peace and quiet.
-- Can't see any neighbors (although there are some in the area so you aren't totally isolated)
-- House is stylishly and simply furnished - while decor is a matter of taste, this home fit our taste. Pictures are accurate.
-- Nice kitchen for cooking, also used the outdoor grill often
-- Love that owner allows dogs
-- Owner is very personable and welcoming - a great spirit and that matters! Gave us great veggies from garden next door.
-- Close to great hiking and fishing (1 hour to Cashiers/Highlands, 45 minutes to Panthertown Valley, 30 - 60 minutes to many Blue Ridge parkway trails....)
A couple of notes about it - these were pluses for us but maybe not for all -
-- no phone, TV or wi-fi. Our Sprint and Verizon phones/iPads worked fine.
-- No AC and I believe no central heat (although there are heaters). Ceiling fans were enough.
-- No microwave in kitchen (fine except we missed it for heating up dog food...)
-- No showers - just 2 tubs (no hand sprayer on tubs either so we used cups for hair washing)
