Our Favorite Mountain Getaway by far!

        5 of 5
Our family stayed here over the July 4th weekend and loved every minute of it! The owner was very helpful, kind and responsive. The home is very clean and has everything you could possibly need. The beds and the bedding were the absolute best - very comfortable (excellent rest!) and well decorated! We woke up the first morning and enjoyed sitting on the patio watching the hummingbirds and listening to the creek. Our three children (ages 11, 9 and 5) had a blast playing in the creek and exploring. The fishing right across the street was fun for all of us - such beautiful sounds, incredible waterfalls, and peaceful surroundings. I loved the flowers, butterflies, picking blueberries - everything about this home makes us want to come back - real soon! It was a great time to get away and unwind as a family. We did not want to leave and we can't wait to stay again!

        Stunning view, charming home!!!

        5 of 5
Our family of 5, including 3 small children, enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing stay at this cozy home. The kids had so much fun playing in the large creek, picking fresh berries in the large berry patch, and hiking in the woods. The house is spacious, with plenty of room to spread out. The kitchen is more than well equipped. We even made a blueberry cobbler with the fresh berries we picked! Yum! The view from the front porch is stunning! We spent a lot of time relaxing in the cozy rocking chairs, admiring the peaceful view of the valley and mountains, and listening to the rushing stream. The nearby town of Bakersville was quaint, and had great art galleries with a lot of unique pottery. The Mica Gallery was our favorite, and had affordable pieces to start your collection, or pick out a souvenir from your trip! Some of the artists were even kind enough to show my daughter, who is into art, some pottery tips! Jason Bige Burnett has a great gallery there too, and took 20 minutes out of his studio time to show his technique to my 7 year old daughter. Very friendly people! And don't forget to eat lunch at Dot's Coffee shop while you're there! Don't miss dinner at Knife & Fork in Spruce Pine. We ate there twice, it was that good. All farm fresh, local food, unique, ever changing menu. They even accommodated the kids. Definitely take a day trip to Asheville as well. Both Old Biltmore Village, and downtown make for a great day trip. Lot's of shopping and delicious, diverse restaurants such as; Rezaz, Salsa, French Broad Chocolate Lounge, Chai Pani, and much more. There are plenty of other areas to visit within a one hour drive such as Banner Elk, and Roan Mountain State Park, which has a large, clean pool. If you want to stay near the house, the Mountain Grill is just one minute away, and serves yummy burgers & fries, and delicious shakes in any flavor imaginable! We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the Red Roof Farmhouse! It was sad to leave. Our littlest one even cried when we had to leave, she loved it that much! We definitely recommend this charming home to anyone wanting a relaxing, peaceful mountain vacation.
