High Country Retreat cannot be beat!

5 of 5
Our recent stay at The Lodge at High Country Retreat was nothing short of AMAZING! My husband and I surprised his parents for their birthdays with a trip to Asheville, where they'd never been. The Lodge was breathtaking upon arrival - serene, private, easy to get to and in a fantastic location. Our kids (ages 8, 9, and 11) in-laws (70 and 71) and our two dogs felt totally at home the moment we walked through the door. The open floor plan, cozy furniture and fireplace in the family room, spacious bedrooms with flatscreen tv's, beautifully updated bathrooms, and fully-stocked gourmet kitchen were all immaculate. The large deck was lounged on, held three-generation card games at the huge outdoor table, and numerous trips in and out of the incredible 8-person hot tub - not to mention the built-in firepit on the patio...s'mores were enjoyed by all! With both in-laws being somewhat physically limited, The Lodge offered several conveniences that made our trip even *that much more* enjoyable: walk-in showers, very few steps, and easy access to the hot tub. We hated to leave and cannot wait to return - this time with my parents perhaps?!

Great stay!

The house was located close enough to everything we wanted to do, but far enough away to "get away" We went to the Biltmore, the Botanical Gardens, the Arts District and more. On our way out of town went to Chimney Rock. There is a lot of space and the house is very kid friendly. The description was accurate, and the home was very clean. The lay out of the house is a bit quirky, but functional.

Excellent Accomodations for a Peaceful Retreat

5 of 5
Our group of 8 adults and 1 toddler stayed at this cabin for 3 nights for the 2013 New Year's Eve holiday. Before our arrival the owners had already set up a nice warm fire for us in the wood-burning stove inside of the great room! The cabin itself was very spacious with 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, each of which were updated and very clean. The entire cabin was beautifully crafted and kept in great condition. During the time we were there, we explored the property and trails around the cabin, which are extremely beautiful as the cabin is set right in front of a creek that winds through several small waterfalls. We also visited Asheville (~20 minutes away) and a nearby ski resort (Cataloochee, ~ 60 minutes away), which were both great and only a close distance away. We would definitely return to this location again!
