We were a group of 10 plus our dog staying in the cabin for the Christmas holiday (two families, one consisting of 4 members, the other 6). Overall we were impressed with the look and layout of the cabin. We had six children who all seemed to enjoy both the loft and lower level play area, as well as running in the woods outside. There were enough sleeping spaces for everyone. The adults took the two bedrooms and the kids went back and forth from sleeping in the bunk beds downstairs to all sleeping in the loft together. The property was very clean and we had no issues gaining entry into both the neighborhood and the cabin itself. The cabin was close enough to several restaurants, grocery shopping, downtown shopping, and Chimney Rock. Our group took several scenic drives, as well as going to Moonshine Mountain in Hendersonville for snow tubing, and Grandfather Mountain in Linville.(Hour to hour and a half drives) The weather was cool, mostly in the 40's, but very foggy for most of our stay. The last two days, it cleared and the views were breathtaking! I would recommend this rental for sure, but do have a few suggestions. 1. The lower level bedroom has no door on it, which was quite a concern with so many kids especially since both the playroom and bunk beds were down there as well. Privacy was an issue for sure. It appears that was a place for a rod to hang a curtain of some sort for some added privacy, but we could not locate it. 2. I would suggest more pillows in both the bedrooms, as we had to use some of the couch pillows to prop ourselves up. 3. Additional towels, would be good as well. It seemed that our family of 6 was constantly sharing towels (wet at times if everyone decided to shower in the evening). For any future guests, you may want to bring additional blankets, etc, if staying downstairs. It does tend to get quite chilly down there. My husband and I invested in a space heater for our time there and it helped quite a bit.Since it's a log cabin, you do hear everything through the walls/floors and vents, so for us it got noisy at times, but with such a large group that was to be expected. Despite the privacy issue and the colder temps, being downstairs was an advantage for us, since there was french door access to outside, which was helpful in letting our dog outside. The stove, dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer all worked fine, and came in very handy for a week long stay with some many people. Overall, we were content and enjoyed our stay.
