Perfect spot for the budget traveller who enjoys privacy and close beach access!

5 of 5
My partner and I rented this little casita for 7 weeks in January and February of 2015. We were so impressed by the size of our yard, and the privacy of the house. Although the indoor space is limited, the outdoor space makes up for it! The house has all the basic necessities you need to cook for yourself, and live very inexpensively for short, or long periods of time. The property is home to many different species of birds, which is great if you enjoy bird watching. Also, if you enjoy being lulled to sleep by the sound of ocean waves, this is your spot! The beach is absolutely beautiful! You can walk for miles in both directions - one way leading to the famous Popoyo surf break, and the other to some awesome tidal pools set back in the rocks! There are plenty of great little restaurants nearby as well, serving a variety of traditional Nica food, and some international. There is restaurant around the corner offering great food and drink, has a beautiful pool, and decent internet if you need to check some emails. If you are wanting to explore a bit, I would suggest renting a bicycle, or motorcycle to get in to town, and to neighbouring communities. The great part about motorcycle rentals in town, is that they usually come with a surfboard rack so you can easily get back and forth to the surf breaks (and there is no shortage of surfing)! The property manager, Chris, is a really excellent guy, and willing to help out in any way possible. He's super knowledgeable about the area (and bilingual), and always on call if you need something at the house. Overall, we had a awesome experience in Nicaragua, and felt very fortunate to have been able to stay at Popoyo Casita!

Excellent house in a secluded beach community!

5 of 5
This place was amazing! 5 travellers in total we arrived and were greeted by the staff who work at the house cleaning and maintaining it daily. Lots of space with very interesting architecture, plenty of bathrooms and full kitchen. Our cook Jessica made delicious, healthy food for us as a part of the meal plan whoch we all would highly recommend. Hacidenda iguana was quiet but offered some amenities within walking distance of Marisombra. The beach bar/restaurant on yhe playa Colorado side of the beach is a must for food, everything is fresh and they have happy hour everyday. Even if you're out of practice (which we all were) the golf course was spectacular, great views and basically deserted, much like the beach that is a 30seconds walk from Marisombra s front door. Plenty of wild life to take in on the grounds. Getting around was easy 2 restaurants/bars, golf, a store to buy some snacks, surf shop and beach were all a 20min or less walk from the house. Would highly recommend this property to anyone and have already been telling people about all our great experiences over our ten days in Nicaragua.

Perfection!

5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here for 3 weeks in May. Maribel and Faxis are an aunt and nephew team that take care of the property and an absolute joy. We still miss Maribel. The beds and pillows are so comfortable, whew! There is AC in every room that keeps you in the comforts of home (U.S.). The kitchen is phenomenal, for any where. The outside seating area is perfect for coffee and evening cocktails and hanging out. The pool is one of Rancho Santana locals favorites because of the shade, a precious commodity!!! There is a tv for the men ;) We were able to watch the NHL playoffs from Nicaragua, who can ask for more. We stayed by ourselves and had a few people in and out too. The layout is so comfortable whether your two people or ten. We can't wait to go back!!! Recommendation: Rent a car. This is not a unique recommendation for this property, you're going to want to explore the surrounding beaches and what not, you're going to want a car no matter what ( that is coming from a cheapskate!)
