Peace and Quiet in a Tropical Paradise

5 of 5
Hi Fred! It’s been three years since we wrote our first review of your home and thought it might be good to give our review an update. And having just arrived home from our sixth stay at Casa Roja, I wonder if we have earned some sort of honorary status, no? You already know what a treasure you have with Casa Roja and we feel so fortunate to be able to frequently borrow your piece of tropical paradise. When considering whether to stay in town or at Casa Roja, trial and error taught us that your place wins hands down. Don’t get me wrong, San Juan is great – we enjoy the quick drive into town to shop, visit the Farmers Market or grab a bite to eat but that we can quickly escape the heat and hustle bustle of town is what we treasure on vacation here. And with Playa Hermosa virtually down the road from Casa Roja, we just zip down there to swim, surf and search for shells on the beach. By comparison the beach in town isn't as swimmable, surf-able or quite as beautiful. Whether we’re returning from town or the beach, we appreciate being able to get back home quickly to unwind nestled in tranquil privacy. On our first visit, we had wondered about security but it has never been a concern. Whether it’s during our morning walks or peaceful evenings spent stargazing comfortably tucked away in what has truly become a home away from home, we never worry about or want for much. Your caretaker, Luis, is like family and it goes without saying that we love your adorable dogs so much that we are taking Luca back with us later this year. We are confident Casa Roja’s two remaining pups, Indie and Toby, will continue to keep people smiling with their loving laid back demeanors. (Do you put it in other guest's contracts to bring them treats or is it just us?!) Reflecting on all our time and experiences there, it’s almost like your place mellows and ages well with time. You’ve kept it in excellent condition. We noticed the new paint along with new outdoor furniture, gas grill and more. The plants have tripled in size and fruits are everywhere! Luis’s handiwork, no doubt. But why is it we can never find the free bottle of Flora de Cana Rum you always promise us!!! Keep up the good work and we will be back very soon!

Excellent house in a secluded beach community!

5 of 5
This place was amazing! 5 travellers in total we arrived and were greeted by the staff who work at the house cleaning and maintaining it daily. Lots of space with very interesting architecture, plenty of bathrooms and full kitchen. Our cook Jessica made delicious, healthy food for us as a part of the meal plan whoch we all would highly recommend. Hacidenda iguana was quiet but offered some amenities within walking distance of Marisombra. The beach bar/restaurant on yhe playa Colorado side of the beach is a must for food, everything is fresh and they have happy hour everyday. Even if you're out of practice (which we all were) the golf course was spectacular, great views and basically deserted, much like the beach that is a 30seconds walk from Marisombra s front door. Plenty of wild life to take in on the grounds. Getting around was easy 2 restaurants/bars, golf, a store to buy some snacks, surf shop and beach were all a 20min or less walk from the house. Would highly recommend this property to anyone and have already been telling people about all our great experiences over our ten days in Nicaragua.

Comfortable, well stocked, and charming home!

5 of 5
We had an amazing honeymoon at Casa Surfside! Janelle and Dan took GREAT care of us. The house is really well-stocked, and has everything you need to cook at home, if you want to. Dan took us by the grocery store on our way in from the airport, and we cooked several of our meals at the house. We had chicken and pork out on the grill, ate a TON of fresh fruit, and of course we drank Nica coffee every morning. TIP: always buy the milk in the box :) Each day we went down to the lodge, Los Cardones, and read books, took some amazing walks and got massages - all right on the beach. One of our highlights was releasing just-hatched sea turtles at sunset. AWESOME! We had one dinner and one breakfast there, and everything was top notch - and VERY affordable. Oh,and beers are $1.50 each. I swear we looked like a Corona commercial the whole time we were there (2 Adirondack chairs and 2 beers on the beach)! We were there in the off-season (right at the end), and so we did not get to go out fishing on the boat, however when we go back we will definitely be doing this! Apparently, you can catch up to 20 fish a day, and even run across some sailfish, and rooster fish in addition to snapper. Janelle threw in some extra special touches for our celebration. A bottle of bubbly and some local fruit nectar for "Pinosas"; a stick of butter when we ran out; a tiny birthday cake on my birthday while we were there, and a trip to visit the baby donkeys plus watch a few innings of baseball in the nearby town. *sigh* It was definitely exactly what we needed. We took the relaxing version, but there was plenty to do! Surfing, horseback riding, and day trips (to volcanoes!) were all available, we just chose to recharge. My husband is already plotting his next boy's trip to Nica!
