Perfect spot for the budget traveller who enjoys privacy and close beach access!

5 of 5
My partner and I rented this little casita for 7 weeks in January and February of 2015. We were so impressed by the size of our yard, and the privacy of the house. Although the indoor space is limited, the outdoor space makes up for it! The house has all the basic necessities you need to cook for yourself, and live very inexpensively for short, or long periods of time. The property is home to many different species of birds, which is great if you enjoy bird watching. Also, if you enjoy being lulled to sleep by the sound of ocean waves, this is your spot! The beach is absolutely beautiful! You can walk for miles in both directions - one way leading to the famous Popoyo surf break, and the other to some awesome tidal pools set back in the rocks! There are plenty of great little restaurants nearby as well, serving a variety of traditional Nica food, and some international. There is restaurant around the corner offering great food and drink, has a beautiful pool, and decent internet if you need to check some emails. If you are wanting to explore a bit, I would suggest renting a bicycle, or motorcycle to get in to town, and to neighbouring communities. The great part about motorcycle rentals in town, is that they usually come with a surfboard rack so you can easily get back and forth to the surf breaks (and there is no shortage of surfing)! The property manager, Chris, is a really excellent guy, and willing to help out in any way possible. He's super knowledgeable about the area (and bilingual), and always on call if you need something at the house. Overall, we had a awesome experience in Nicaragua, and felt very fortunate to have been able to stay at Popoyo Casita!
