Traditional spanish style home with garden and small pool in courtyard. Three bedrooms on one side. Kitchen and dining area on the other. There's also a sitting room at front and room to park one car inside. There are multiple sitting areas around the courtyard and a small table beside pool. The hammock and rocking chairs were very popular with the kids. The house is a good choice when traveling with children but they need to be watched closely around the pool, etc. The kitchen was well furnished. A second elevated garden was behind the house. The home was decorated with a considerable amount of local folk art depicting festivals in Granada and the surrounding area. There's a library with information about Granada, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. The house was clean and well maintained. We cooked breakfast and out for lunch and dinner. Temperatures get high in Granada, and we loved coming back to the house in the afternoon and cooling off with a dip in the pool. There's a good supermarket about four blocks from the house. It's about a fifteen minute walk to the center of Granada. The owner and house manager, Jose, can arrange transportation. We were picked up at the Costa Rican border by a van. One way cost was $125. From the border with Costa Rica, it's about one hour and forty five minutes. We stopped for food and drinks on the way. The house manager, Jose, was very helpful. When we arrived, Jose showed us around the house and took us to the grocery store. He also arranged tours around town, to the volcanic islands, the local markets in Masaya, and to Catarina (terrific view). He came with us on the tours and arranged personal security when necessary. Although Nicaragua appears to be developing rapidly, there is still a good deal of poverty and one has to take care where one walks, particularly after dark. Jose is a keen baseball fan! We had great time at the house during our stay in Granada.
