After a stressful period we needed a break and were fortunate to find it in ideal settings at casa Ezulwini. As a hideaway it is perfect yet we never felt isolated, thanks to the excellent organization of the resort. However the Pacific ocean is the closest neighbor roaring on the rocks under the house, hosting the most beautiful sunsets that we saw comfortably seated on the terrace and bathing the fairy tale beach where we regularly went swimming snorkeling or kayaking.
We immediately felt confortable in Casa Ezulwini a roomy colonial style house with all desired comfort, above the Pacific just high enough to feel protected. A sort of pirate home decorated with refined local art.
We were there in mid November, clear blue sky with the occasional short rainfalls as the rainy season had just finished. Mapping the stars in pristine nights was an endless pleasure. We admired the luxuriant green nature in a real tropical climate where for instance reading in the cool pool over the Pacific really was a relaxing delight.
The beach restaurant at Redonda Bay deserves attention. It has always been perfectly up to expectations, for example we had a delicious beef filet with real tasty garden vegetables. Leisure, ocean activities and enjoying the quietness are not the only option. We were fortunate to see Granada, Ometepe islands, one of the world sanctuaries, Masaya and saw the mouth of an active volcano. But Nicaragua is also its people. The country has a strong identity stemming from its history and a government seeking a national consensus associating enterprises and societal values to progress. There, foreign enterprises as well as tourists have a role to play, if only by supporting the locals, for instance Octavio, the local guide is really interesting and resourceful.
