A wonderful holiday experience!

5 of 5
This beautiful home was an ideal spot to enjoy views of the ocean in Pouch Cove. It was the perfect home base for day trips in to St. John's (only about 20 mins drive), but it turned out there was a lot to stay in Pouch Cove for! The house was so close to the East Coast Trail that were able to be at the entrance in about 3 minutes from our front door. The owner, Barry, had thought of everything when he stocked the kitchen - plenty of dishes, a strainer, a huge pot to cook lobster, lots of wine glasses and even storage containers for leftovers - just like you were home! We ended up cooking in more often because of this. We had campfires in the chimnea most days, and enjoyed wine on the side porch after it got too chilly to be outside. The house was very clean and the neighbourhood was quiet. We will be back, without a doubt! Thanks again, Barry!

Many pluses to this location.

5 of 5
There were four adults in our group and we frequently commented about what a wonderful location the saltbox was. Close to St. Johns, but in a cute fishing village. Many, many things to do in a reasonable driving distance, and the owners have furnished the home with large format television, sound system with huge selection of music, plus a nice library of books and movies. Sit on the deck watching whales, sipping wine, listening to Newfoundland Sounds. What a treat! Though close to the "big city" of St. Johns, we found the locals as engaging and friendly as in other parts of Newfoundland.

Want to Return

Battery house was in the most unique and beautiful location overlooking the harbor of St John's. It was just the right size for 3 couples. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed the balcony and use of BBQ. The hostess who met us there was very friendly and informative. There also was a great book with details. All correspondence over internet was replied to quickly and only 20% was needed as down payment. This property actually had 2 flat parking spots for vehicles which was a bonus in this area. It was a close walk to downtown and best restaurant Portobello's . We enjoyed Canada Day fireworks at Signal Hill and seeing a whale jump out of water at Cape Spear. Would love to return. Only thing we missed was air conditioning as we were blessed with hot weather.
