Relaxing and Convenient in a Private Setting

5 of 5
We had an incredibly relaxing stay at Into the Mystic. The house was charming, extremely clean, and well maintained. Our favorite amenities were the large fully stocked kitchen with gas range, heated bathroom floors, and giant fireplace. The location is perfect – extremely serene and private, yet only 5 minutes from the heart of Woodstock. Chelsea (assistant) was kind and exceptionally responsive during the booking process. Judy, the property manager, was very welcoming and greeted us upon arrival. We would recommend the house to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat.

Witten Barn - The Perfect, Romantic Getaway!

5 of 5
After months of planning a winter wedding in Saratoga Springs, NY, and our honeymoon not until June, my wife Amanda and I decided we still needed a little "mini-moon" to finally get some much needed relaxation, peace and quite. Let's start with the property before getting moving on to the Barn itself. When Amanda and I arrived, there was close to two feet of fresh snow on the ground, and the Barn could not have looked any more beautiful. Set before a beautiful mountain landscape, Witten Barn immediately impressed with the gorgeous property and vast, open land. We pulled into a perfectly plowed driveway and made our way into the house with ease. What we found couldn't have been any more perfect for three nights of complete, isolated relaxation. The mudroom when you enter the house was perfect for keeping wet, snowy boots and jackets from dirtying the rest of the Barn. We then made our way up the impressive spiral staircase, and arrived on the first floor. WOW! Immediately we were blown away by the beautiful views from the huge glass windows surrounding the entire room. There is a nice size fireplace with a built in pizza stove built into the chimney as well. Looking around, we were thrilled to find a huge dining table, a perfectly functional kitchen (we LOVE to cook) and wet bar with a large wine fridge. Everything was in spotless condition, and the pictures on the website don't even do justice to just how charming the barn truly is. Making your way up to the bedroom, we were again blown away by the breath taking views from the beautiful large windows surrounding the room. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, and with the presence of a gas fireplace, we knew we had picked exactly the getaway we needed for nothing but a romantic, relaxing getaway. Then, we saw the bathroom. A massive stone tub/spa with a waterfall like shower fixture and steam feature is hands down the showstopper of the Barn. If you like soaking in a bath, this is not something to be missed. The only thing we found to be a little less traditional, was the absence of a door to the actual bathroom itself. However, it is designed well enough that the sink, mirror and shower almost feel like they are in a different room than the bathroom. All in all, we couldn't have been any happier with Witten Barn. It is absolutely perfect for a romantic, relaxing getaway!

Ideal Destination for Intimate Gatherings

5 of 5
I wanted to organize a trip for 16 adults and 10 children, and was hard-pressed to find a house that accommodate such a large group, in an intimate setting. While the barn does not in fact hold that many, it was wonderful to find out that there are neighboring properties which can be rented in combination with The Barn. So we were able to rent The Barn, in addition to the house next door (beautiful in its own right), and create the intimate weekend I had imagined, with a larger group. It worked like a charm! On top of this, I was also looking to have catered meals prepared onsite, and The Barn came through with flying colors in this category as well. Jodi Cummings is the house's resident private chef who, you can hire as an option to cook fabulous meals. Being tied to a local, high-quality livestock farm, Jodi was able to source very high-quality meats for our meals, at a very reasonable price. Her cooking was perfect for the setting: wholesome, fresh ingredients, restaurant quality, and then some. Jodi impressed me as the kind of chef who could cater to almost any taste. And with her assistant present for our dinners, cleanup was taken care of. The barn itself was as beautiful, and more so, than the photos suggest. The owners clearly have excellent taste, and put a lot of energy into a decor that is perfect for the upstate setting. If design is important to you, The Barn will not disappoint. Our group also took advantage of the airstream on the property, and it was surprisingly comfortable, even in the cold weather. Friends of ours stayed in the camper with their 3 year-old son, and were really happy with their experience. Our group took full advantage of the sweeping front lawn, the fire pit, the *huge* circular hammock, and we really just had a perfect weekend. I've rented *many* places upstate, and The Barn is now at the top of my list. Enjoy!
