Perfect

5 of 5
Great place to stay I definently recommend this little cabin. I suited our needs perfectly. When we arrived it was dark and snowy, and I couldn't find the key cause i vaugly remembered what matthew had said over the phone, so I gave him a call and answered right away, stayed on the phone until I had found it. Once we got in it was very clean, and accommodating. When the other half of our party had arrived they had just fit in the driveway. We drove up in 2 full sized trucks, the driveway was a little small but it did its job unfourtunatly you can't park on the side of the road because of a small ditch. Until later on the next day is when we saw the yard considering that we left early in the morning and it was still dark, the yard was large with a fire pit and nicely kept. Making dinner was a little tough but definently doable, half of us were over 6' tall. The house was filled with pots, pans, plates, and untenciles. Overall it was an awesome stay had phone/data service everywhere in the house and outside no cable or satalite but we had brought movies. Oh and there's a little diner on 23 in widham where we went for lunch Saturday/sunday, great food and service.

A wonderful house in g great location

5 of 5
This is a lovely, well equipped and spacious house. Huge lawns front and back. I had a big stare down with a huge buck early one morning, and I learned that deer don't appreciate eye contact! Modern kitchen, fully equipped. On top of hill looking toward Windham Mountain, about 1.2 miles from the town. On bottom of RT 32 in Cairo, near I87, sits a wonderful Hannaford for stocking up, with good markets in the town for quick shops -- plus a fabulous, reasonably-priced French restaurant. Windham is the nicest town in the upper Catskills, with relatively few empty storefronts and a good array of restaurants and shops, including a performing arts center, an old-fashioned hardware store and a bakery. Visit Prattsville and see what Irene did to the town and Schoharie Creek. If you are skiing it would be a perfect house, but go with family or friends to make it worth it. Easy to cook and dine-in to avoid eating out if you like. The owners are very responsive to any small complaint, and even delivered a blue ray player when the old DVD unit died. Good Wi-Fi so you are never disconnected -- sorry! Only one thing owners should address: HVAC could use some tweaking. the lower level runs much cooler than the upper, and with one thermostat/zone on the top it's can be tricky to get a good balance on both levels. We were there during AC season, and winter may be different. So highly recommended for short or long stay. Hint -- if you are coming up from downstate or NYC area on a Friday evening take the Taconic!

Wonderful Little Cottage Away From It All

5 of 5
I found this wonderful cottage by accident. We were looking for something new. Been going up to Catskills since 1979. Same place all the time. Needed a change. Well, this was the place. If you are looking for a place "really" away from everything, this is it. The owners Winnie and Patrick are the nicest people you could ever meet. The cottage is stocked. Everything you can possibly need and more. No phones, no internet. The perfect get away from reality. Its the perfect couples cottage. But you are high up. You are right across from Point Lookout. So be prepared for some fog on rainey days. Close to Windham where you can find a really nice steakhouse and pizzeria. Shopping for food is pretty close in Cairo but we still took the trip down the mountain to Leeds and went to our favorite Price Chopper. Although you dont see the view from your window, all you have to do is walk down the road to see it. It has this awesome wrap around porch and you are covered by trees. The temp is always cooler than down the mountain and we didnt turn the ac on once. It was wonderful. I can go on and on but I think I about covered it. We were more than happy with our stay. Oh, there is also this really old cabinet filled with games and books. Found a book I was meaning to read and enjoyed it on the porch. Tv is local stations but we brought up a dvd player, was able to connect to tv and rented recent release movies at the price chopper every night. Ok, i will stop now because i can go on. Didnt get to barbque because of the rain but again with the fully stocked kitchen I never minded cooking dinner. Hope this review helps you. If you find this place, dont hesitate. You wont be sorry.
