good place to get away in the city

5 of 5
Eva was great and easy to work with. I booked our trip the day before we were supposed to leave. She was very accommodating, was easy to get in touch with via cell phone, email and text. The location is convenient to the 6 line, Central Park and the East River. There is a grocery store right across the street. It is small, but was the perfect size for a family of 4. There are windows in every room so plenty of light, but don't expect a view; everything looks out onto neighboring walls. At first I was a bit disappointed at this; it turned out to be a blessing. The unit is extremely quiet. Also after a full day of the hustle, bustle and overstimulation of the city, it was nice to come back to a quiet space and unwind before throwing ourselves back into the mix the next day. We are a young family with 2 children aged 2 and 3. I would highly recommend this property or another of Evas.

The most wonderful and enjoyable New York stay.

5 of 5
My wife and two energetic boys from Brisbane, Australia were looking for an apartment that would provide a great base for our holiday in Manhattan. We were looking for an elegant and spacious property that would allow us to feel comfortable and not live on top of each other like in a hotel room. From the very beginning I was impressed with Julia and her willingness to help. The welcome was inviting and made us feel at ease. After travelling for almost two weeks prior to arrival the suitcase had accumulated some clothing in desperate need of a wash and within 24 hours our clothes were washed, folded and sitting on our bed upon our return from a day out. The first night was spent at the baseball out in Queens and Julia arranged a town car to pick us up after the game which was great with a tired family wanting to get home. Like all other accommodation there are some table stakes that are just crucial to a good experience. This starts with the hospitality of the host and the appearance of the apartment which both were fantastic. Then for the two kids the Wi-Fi was fast and consistent, and for me and the world cup being on and hot summer days we needed a great tv and an air conditioner to spend some down time after a long day of playing in central park. However, the most important aspect of a good holiday is a happy wife and that means shopping. The location is just terrific with a short stroll to central park and a neighbourhood of cafes, restaurants and shops. The proximity to Madison avenue is great and the boutiques went on for miles. However, two things stand out for us on our holidays and in this case both were big ticks. The beds were large and very comfortable and the showers were hot and strong. We went to Boston for a few days and were able to leave our suitcases in storage here which was very convenient. All in all i highly recommend this accommodation. We stayed in both the balcony suite and the terrace suite and both were of excellent quality. We would definitely stay here again.

Base camp NYC!

4 of 5
We spent a week in New York at the start of July, doing the stuff that most tourists plan to do...shows, 9-11 memorial, museums, Central Park, Apollo, etc. Our family of 2 adults, 3 teens stayed at this east side apartment, using it as base camp for our daily explorations. The apartment is clean, comfortable, and suitable for making small meals in. Pluses: - safe, friendly neighbourhood with groceries and restaurants close by - quiet building, windows face onto an inner courtyard - the MET and Guggenheim museums, and Central Park, are 20-30 minutes walk away - the one problem that came up while we were there was dealt with reasonably quickly What we'd do different: - the apartment is 15-20 minute walk from the express subway lines 4 and 5, and then it's another 20 minutes to get to lower Manhattan, where we spent most of our time. We'd planned to use transit the whole time, but found that cabs significantly reduced the time spent getting to/from the sites, without blowing too big a hole in our vacation budget. The city is constructing a new subway line on 2nd Ave, just a block away from the apartment...when it's running, this apartment will be much closer to a station.
