Our family of five stayed in this Upper East Side apartment for a week in the summer of 2014, and we had a wonderful time. The apartment is just as described and the pictures on the website are accurate. Mr. Grossman responded quickly to my email questions, and gave us ample and accurate information about the apartment and neighborhood. He was friendly and attentive, but not intrusive during our stay.
The apartment was clean and orderly when we arrived. I believe this is the owners home when it is not rented out as a vacation rental, but it felt homey, and we had plenty of space to keep our belongings.
The wifi & TV worked great, the kitchen was well stocked with cooking and eating utensils, there were plenty of towels and pillows, the beds were comfy, and there was a dining room, which really added a nice space to the home.
The neighborhood was safe, and surprisingly (for NYC) quiet at night. The subway (#4 is an express, which was nice) was a couple of blocks away, and as we were in NY, we expected to walk, and we enjoyed the city experience. Bob's Bagels across the street served great bagels and coffee! There were many amazing places to eat within walking distance.
In summary, we have rented well over a dozen properties via VRBO/HomeAway, and I have found that a good owner, who communicates and is responsive, is a MUST! Mr. Grossman was exactly that, and his apartment was exactly as described... so we were very happy with our experience, and would highly recommend this apartment to anyone traveling to the city who wants a clean, comfy, roomy home-base in a quiet neighborhood.
