This is a nice place to stay if you don't mind spending some time with a bus and then the ferry to get to Manhattan, taking about 45 minutes to the south side of Manhattan. The accommodation itself has everything you need for 3 or 4 people and it is ideally located. You can walk to a large grocery store and have delis and a Starbucks just around the corner. You pay nothing for parking if you have a car. The area itself seems quite safe and while parts of Staten Island clearly need some renovation, this area is fine.
Cynthia, the owner, is super easy to deal with and she will accommodate you with any wish or need you have. She responds almost instantaneously so you never have to worry about anything.
All in all, the only real negative is the trip into Manhattan, which really isn't a negative as the bus stop is just a couple of minutes from the apartment and it goes right to the ferry, which runs every 30 minutes or so. Staten Island may not be the most glamorous location but when you factor in the cost savings, it's a good deal.
