Nice place

5 of 5
This is a nice place to stay if you don't mind spending some time with a bus and then the ferry to get to Manhattan, taking about 45 minutes to the south side of Manhattan. The accommodation itself has everything you need for 3 or 4 people and it is ideally located. You can walk to a large grocery store and have delis and a Starbucks just around the corner. You pay nothing for parking if you have a car. The area itself seems quite safe and while parts of Staten Island clearly need some renovation, this area is fine. Cynthia, the owner, is super easy to deal with and she will accommodate you with any wish or need you have. She responds almost instantaneously so you never have to worry about anything. All in all, the only real negative is the trip into Manhattan, which really isn't a negative as the bus stop is just a couple of minutes from the apartment and it goes right to the ferry, which runs every 30 minutes or so. Staten Island may not be the most glamorous location but when you factor in the cost savings, it's a good deal.

FANTASTIC ACCOMMODATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

4 of 5
My husband and I spent a fabulous week in this spacious, very clean and quiet apartment. The owners had left us the essentials for breakfast our first day and we were grateful for the coffee, baguette, orange juice and milk they had waiting. The (free) ferry is just a 10 minute walk from the house and it runs every 1/2 hour for 24 hours/day. We enjoyed passing in front of the Statue of Liberty at different times of the day - especially at sunset. One thing we learned during our stay, is that there is a bus (#42 or #52) that picks you up at the ferry station and drops you very close to the apartment when you get back from the city. You can use your NYC Metro Card on these buses. This was especially nice after walking around the city all day, if you're too tired to tackle the (uphill) walk home at the end of the day. We would both like to return as soon as possible and highly recommend it to travelers who want to be close to Manhattan but without all the hustle, bustle, noise and expense. Guy & Alexis

We'll be back

We were completely delighted with this 'home away from home'. The kitchen was set up for foodies complete with a charcoal BBQ grill on the deck. Beds were comfortable, and the hospitality of our hosts made us feel like old friends.
