This home is ideal for a large family gathering.

5 of 5
We booked this home for a week in late April in order to bring together a large number of people who had a tie with the North Fork. Everything worked out perfectly: the house is well furnished and we had no difficulty serving 20 people for dinner Saturday night. Maria Trupia, the owner, can best be described in one word: gracious. She was most accommodating and helpful. For anyone contemplating a stay in or around Mattituck, this is the place.

Just perfect. A charming, relaxing getaway in the North Fork.

10/10. A+. My wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and we absolutely loved it. One of the best weekends we’ve ever spent away from the city. The cottage itself is bright, clean, modern, and very tasteful. The beds are comfortable and the appliances are brand new. You couldn’t ask for more in the interior of the house. The back porch overlooking Gardiners Bay provides spectacular views, and is perfect for laying out in the sun, reading, birdwatching, or enjoying some fine North Fork wine with good company. Or all of the above. Our visit was too early in the season to try the clam rake (too cold), but if the seagulls are any indication, the water right off the porch is teeming with aquatic life. We look forward to returning when it’s warmer and trying to catch some ourselves! The location is excellent. It’s on a quiet street in a beautiful little enclave off the main road, only a short walk from the delicious Four & Twenty Blackbirds pies and a charming little general grocery store for any essentials. It’s also a short drive from a number of great restaurants. My wife and I are spoiled on good food in New York, and we were still blown away by the caliber of cuisine in and around Orient. I’d highly recommend North Fork Table & Inn, Alure, Claudio’s in Greenport, and Love Lane Kitchen. And the wine! The entire North Fork is full of boutique vineyards, lining the main roads in every direction. We only had time to visit one (Macari), but we intend to try them all eventually. The nearby towns offer plenty of shopping and antiquing, and Greenport in particular. It’s worth getting a cup of coffee at Aldo’s, taking a stroll around the docks on a sunny day, and maybe getting some steamers at Claudio’s afterwards. It's a lovely little town. And let’s not forget our host, Susan. She was responsive, helpful, and provided some great tips on things to see and do while we were in Orient. Everything in her home exceeded our expectations. Our only regret was that we had to leave. We look forward to staying at the Clam Rake Cottage again soon.

Beautiful, secluded, comfortable home

5 of 5
We stayed here for the weekend off season. Billy Kalbacher is an amazing host. He made sure we had everything we needed and then some. The house is comfortable and spacious, and only 9 minutes to the beach. We were two families with 2 older children in one, and two young children in the other, and we still had as much privacy as we wanted. Thank you, Billy Kalbacher
