A Month Was Not Long Enough!

5 of 5
Not only are the sunsets spectacular, but the night sky filled with brilliant stars and the moon beam floating across the water all make the deck the only place to be on warm summer nights! The cottage is small but cozy and inviting, and with the deck can accommodate large family gatherings comfortably. Both the cottage and the grounds are well-maintained. The owner and property manager are warm and welcoming and willing to do whatever needs to be done to make your stay a memorable one. The kitchen is stocked with all the conveniences of home, meeting the needs of either casual cook or gourmet chef. A washer and dryer assure a supply of clean, dry towels for swimmers and boaters alike. Set back away from traffic, the location is ideal – quiet and serene, yet a short drive into the village. Skaneateles boasts a wide range of unique shops and a variety of restaurants like the Sherwood Inn, Blue Water Grille, and The Krebs. There are also several wineries that welcome visitors to sample some of the finest domestic wines New York State has to offer. After a busy day, returning to the comfort of the cottage and the calming effect of the water was a little slice of heaven. A month-long stay was truly not enough!

Great weekend at the lake! EXCELLENT stay!

4 of 5
My friends & I reserved this house back in August planning for Columbus Day weekend. At the time there were no reviews. In the time spanning from our reservation to our stay 2 reviews popped up that made us VERY nervous. Both reviews as you can see gave the place 1 star. After spending a weekend there I can tell you that these reviews are not fair at all. The house itself is decorated in a retro 1960's motif--very fun! It was like taking a step back in time. It was clean & had everything we needed to make it through our weekend. A few things you need to know-- this is a rented house--not a hotel. If you think you are going to need something, bring it. Toilet paper, linens, dish soap & other amenities are not included in most lake rentals. If your cell service is AT&T your phone won't work out there so plan accordingly. The ad says the house sleeps 8. There are 3 full size beds and 2 couches that are thinly padded. Just a heads up. The kitchen has everything you would need for time at the lake but the fridge is a little small. I would suggest bringing an extra cooler with some ice for your cocktails. The bathroom is enormous but as mentioned in other reviews, the blinds in the bathroom window are transparent. During the day you can't see in but once it gets dark and you turn on the lights you can see everything that goes on in there. Bring an extra sheet to hang up over the window for privacy. It has also been mentioned that the parking in the driveway is scary & it is but it is at almost all the houses on the lake. You are on the side of a hill. Best advice is to take it slow and have your passenger guide you in and out. You should be fine. All this being said, the setting is beautiful. The house is situated on one of the most gorgeous spots on the lake. The windows in the house are huge and you can really appreciate the beauty of your surroundings. The lake is crystal clear & the water is pretty shallow by the dock so getting in and out of the water shouldn't be bad. There is a deck on the house, a small deck a bit below with a fire pit & dock access. All are nice. The path & stairs to the lower deck and dock are steep but that's how all the houses are. The dock is a bit wobbly but not bad. You do share the pathway with another cottage but our co-renters were fine. We were all there for a good time & we respected each others space. All in all a great value for our dollar. I would rent this place again and again!
