We had a lovely stay in the summer at this lovely house. We were there for almost 8 weeks.
Peter and Donna, our hosts, were excellent. They were there to meet us and had thought out several small and very relevant details such as phone numbers of nearby shopping options, dining options etc.
Importantly, they were very responsive to the smallest of queries and requests and were always available whenever we needed anything. It was so very nice to see them extending themselves to make our stay a comfortable and pleasant one!
We loved the house (the main part of which was built in the 1700s) and it was exactly what we needed and more than what we had expected (for instance, we had deer and turkeys wandering in the garden at times). It was very open, especially the upper and main area and had a lot of natural light. In fact, we extended our stay by close to four weeks and by the time we left, it was as if leaving home. Our only regret was that we could not stay for a couple of weeks more (because, it was already booked out for those two weeks and rightly so!)
We loved the kitchen! We enjoy cooking and it was so easy to cook in their kitchen. The porch too was an absolute delight and one can spend several hours there very easily.
The house itself was very tastefully done, while at the same time being very functional and simple. Just, as we liked it. It felt so much like home. Since we were only three of us, we tended to use the upper portion of the house much more. The lower portion was very useful for a long weekend on which we had guests and also as a temporary office.
We were the first guests in the house ever and would definitely recommend this to anyone wishing to stay in the area and in a real home. We did find the commute to NY City a bit long, but that did not matter, since we had to go there rarely.
Overall, a great place and a place we would definitely recommend and visit again.
PS - the rating above would have been 4.5 had there been such an option.
