Welcome Home!

4 of 5
This was an ideal place for our family get-together of 27 people...17 guys, 10 gals, ages 6 mo. to 83 yrs. We were able to enjoy the entire time without even leaving the property! The yard offered plenty of space to set up our bocce and croquet games and put up a couple of tents in another area. The spacious deck gave us room for visiting and eating in a sunny area. Campfire s'mores and singing were the evening entertainment ,without concern that we were bothering the neighbors. We did, of course create a lot of laundry and trash and had to guess what to do with them, so another time we'd ask in advance. All in all, we really did feel as though we'd all "come home".

Reconnect with the Family and Laugh Til it Hurts!

5 of 5
My husband and I took my nephew and niece, 15 and 16 respectively, to this well appointed and lovely lake house for a week. Upon our arrival, we were horrified to discover there was no cell service and no internet access. Help! What would we do to amuse these two teens who are constantly bickering with each other? The answer: leave them alone! It took only 30 minutes for them to adjust and it was a joy to watch my nephew push his sister on the swing out back. My niece fashioned a bow an arrow by finding sticks in the woods out back and a piece of string. They even made a badminton set out of nearby materials. SHOCKING. From there, we decided to walk across the street to the crystal clear lake and do some swimming and fishing. Good luck was had in the fishing arena but not so much for "Uncle Glenn". He lost an oar in the middle of the lake and had to resort to a canoe type maneuver to get back to shore. This provided many laughs, even for Uncle Glenn. Nearby, hiking trails lead to a magnificent waterfall. One evening, we took a 30 minute ride to a go cart race track where the kids had fun knocking each other around. And the best discovery was the local ice cream stand with a line 25 deep but no one seemed to care. I can only imagine it was because 3 scoops of rich creamy ice cream cost about $2.50! I cannot emphasize our shock when we realized that teens can carry on conversations, cook for themselves, clean the dishes and giggle until their bellies hurt when they are not glued to their cell phones and tv. It's been a year but we are all still talking about our wonderful week at the tranquil lake house retreat on Crystal Lake. Don't hesitate to visit this serene property. Elizabeth and Brian ensured we had all the information needed to make this vacation spectacular.

Romantic, fun, charming, relaxing - just perfect

5 of 5
Since we are Dutch - as from across the ocean from the Netherlands - we loved the fact that we could actually rent a 'Dutch Colonial on Catskill Creek' in the Fall in New York State. And we are glad we did. The pictures describe perfectly what we found, a luxurious, well equipped, and tremendously tastefully decorated old house on Catskill Creek. The house was a blast for our two oldest sons, just running around, playing hide and seek. And even for the grown ups, there were rooms to relax in: the tv-room, 'smoke'-room with beautiful art, living room with a gas powered fire place and - we loved - the kitchen. Also the surroundings were perfect. Plenty of rainfall in the summer resulted more in Catskill River instead of Catskill Creek. But that did not matter at all: it was more fun for the kids: Throwing branches and leaves in the creek and follow where they went (no clue...). The kids also had fun playing soccer in the big backyard and helping us with making a fire in the afternoon on the patio. And still, this really could also be a very romantic spot, just for two. The owner, Eric, was easy to deal with and very very helpful with providing information about the house, the region, recommendations on restaurants, groceries, museums. All good tips. We would recommend this to anyone, Dutch or not, couples, families, anyone. Enjoy!
