                            A LOVELY PLACE

                            4 of 5
My husband and I rented this lovely farmhouse for a long awaited couple's getaway. We found the place absolutely charming. very original, though recently updated. the kitchen was fully stocked, even found spices and condiments there to use, if desired. the living room area was great, well lit, two confy couches and a great fireplace with two stacks of firewood by the door ready to use. The master bedroom was very big but cozy, and the bed was very confortable. A couple of warnings though...If you are not familiar with original farmhouses, they are old,and some things such as sufficient hot water, can be a challenge. This was the case here...but with this in mind , you can still take a nice shower or bath, just don't expect to linger under the running water, or it will turn cold. The clawfoot tub is awesome for bathiing, but makes showering a bit awkward. The towels were very clean though a bit worn, and mismatched. Also, there was an overheating issue with the downstairs area, but it may have been resolved. We just shut off the thermostat and opened windows for a few hours. The only other warning comment is that the stairs to go up have no banister, and the wooden steps are a little uneven, they threw us off a bit when we first used them, especially with bare feet. By the next day we were going up like pros though. May not be too suitable for small children . There was a nice stream running along the forn of the house, next to the road, and a very nice back yard with a fire pit. We were not able to use the front patio . The area in general, was in between seasons, and the rainy weather was no help, so not as pretty as i imagined it, but the people we met were super friendly, and we had some fine meals. Jason, from Pine Hollow lodging, was incredibly helpful and readily available by email to answer any questions or help us out with anything, even though he was out of the country at the time we stayed. Felt like we were renting form a good friend! would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, quaint , romantic getaway.

UNIQUE, COZY, LIVED-IN HOUSE A PERFECT GETAWAY

                            5 of 5
First I want to talk about what we were looking for in a vacation house. We went the week of Christmas to get away from the noise and hustle of the city to detox with our two children (4 and 7). We were not looking to do many activities, we wanted to cook and hang out somewhere quiet and isolated and relax. We wanted to find a place where we could play in the snow but right before we left the northeast was hit by a big warmup and rainstorm that washed it all away so it was doubly important for the house to be entertaining itself. The Buddha house was everything we wanted! Its in a very good location, very easy to get to from NYC and nicely positioned in between Saugerties and Woodstock. While there are 2 other houses nearby, the yard and a wooded area adjacent the house made it feel separate and oh so quiet. The best thing about the house for a family from NYC was the fact that it is definitely a place that someone lives. That character was important for us as opposed to an antiseptic vacation house made to look like a hotel. Books on the shelves, a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture, and decorations both inside and out made us feel like we were visiting a favorite uncle instead of renting a vacation house. The fireplace was a central attraction, we definitely had a fire on most of the stay (it took some practice to ensure the room didn't get smoky) and the kids were thrilled to be able to roast marshmallows inside! Lots of places to lounge and the beds were comfy. The wifi was a bonus (kids and their iPads). We spent a lot of time cooking and baking and the open kitchen was great for that. Overall we really enjoyed the Buddha house for our 3 night stay, it really satisfied our desire to be at home away from home. And in the spirit of Woodstock we just had to buy a little buddha to take home.

                            SPECTACULAR SUMMER GETAWAY

                            5 of 5
We came as a group of 8 from Manhattan on a beautiful weekend - it was perfect for venturing outdoors! The home is modern and very spacious, with all the listed amenities. Not only did the property provided us with many fun options (grilling on a beautiful porch, kayaking/canoeing on the Hudson, campfire under the stars), but it is also a convenient drive to the Catskills. I recommend Kaaterskill Falls (about a 40 minute drive) if you're looking for hiking, swimming, or just catching a breathtaking view of the waterfall there. I'd love to come back here for another season, perhaps a ski trip. Thank you, Monica!
