Completely blown away!

5 of 5
I have to start out by thanking the manager and her family for letting us stay at there rental and for being so awesome. Secondly I want to tell every other future guest about how amazing this place was. For what we paid for this place we didn't expect to get as much included as we did. We were provided soaps, shampoo & conditioner, bath salts, and my wife even gotten dissolving bath rose petals that we have never seen before. Our children were happy to find toaster pastries and cereal provided for them and my mother in law used the pancake mix that was provided to make waffles. It was cold outside and sometimes old houses are a bit drafty and cold but not this one. The place was very warm and comfortable. We enjoyed our complimentary wine and sat in the living room catching up on things. My daughter and my niece were fascinated with the many dolls that are display in many parts of the house and they were a bit disappointed that they couldn't play with them but they got over it. LOL. I guess the doll collection belongs to the lady of the house (Alicia) and they add a nice touch to the decor. Each room has a different theme and is so well decorated and clean. The kitchen and bathrooms had everything we needed, paper towels, dish soap, linens, spices, etc. There was even a little kids table in the dining room for the kids to sit at during meals. We got to meet Alicia's son Jack and the children in our family played with him a bit and Alicia even brought down some of his toys that they put away when guests arrive. You rarely meet a host or hostess that is as warm and inviting as she was. She stayed at least an hour and told us about the house and previous owners, answered all of our questions ( as we had many) and showed us a guest information book that had EVERYTHING in it. When I say everything, I mean everything. Directions to bars, gas stations, liquor stores, restaurants, coffee shops, churches, emergency contact info, hospitals, grocery stores, shopping, even the most recommended places to eat and shop. You name it, it was in there. That is what I'm talking about when I say, we got waaay more than we expected with this place. The amount of time and hard work it takes to make a book like that, how clean everything was, we jokingly asked Alicia if she had OCD. Not to mention the gifts and breakfast, you won't find that anywhere. We will definitely be back, no question. You have to check this place out we had a wonderful time and you will too!

Excellent space for a big group

4 of 5
I came up here with 100 people for the weekend and we had an incredible time -- the house is AWESOME. It was an excellent space for a big group, with multiple kitchens and tons of cookware that made it easy for us to cook a pot of chili for 100 people. There was definitely enough space for people to sleep in all the beds and snuggle up on air mattresses/sleeping bags, and a beautiful space outdoors. This property "has wifi" but it definitely doesn't work. I called the owner during our stay to ask about it (he was very responsive) and confirmed that because it's so far away the internet isn't exactly "fast" -- but for us it was essentially nonexistent. I think my emails came through maybe once during the weekend, but honestly it was better that way because nobody was on their phones or computers. Heating on the ground floor isn't great, and we tried turning on the kerosene heater in the basement/night club space, but it got really smokey so we didn't use it. Hot water was spotty at best, but we made it work. Overall we had such a great time that those things didn't really matter. It's a fun space and the area surrounding is beautiful. Working with Jessica and Karen was great -- super responsive and immensely helpful. Made the rental process very easy.

Yellow House of Dreams

5 of 5
We originally rented the lodge but due to a last minute cancellation we were offered the yellow house. What an amazing house it was! There were in total 18 of us there and it never felt crowded, we probably could have had 50 and it would have felt just as spaced out. The master suite has an amazing bathtub overlooking the river and the sunrise, two great rocking chairs, and extremely comfortable bed and a loft with an additional queen in it (separated by a curtain, stairs and another door) this loft has the best views and perhaps the most comfortable bed in the house. There was plenty to keep us entertained, televisions, a pool table, a massive farm table to play card/games on. The dogs were in heaven. The hot tub was perfect, underneath you can plug your iPhone in, a tip from Bud. Kat and Suede are truly amazing and were always available. Bud and (his brother) checked up on us and were super friendly, a great bunch of folks working for the property. The kitchen was sufficient enough to get all our cooking done for 18. The stove is only a four top which made it a tad difficult for cooking "family breakfast" but truthfully, everyone was on different sleep schedules so it really didn't matter. The three suites downstairs are an easy lead out to the hot tub and fire pit (we never motivated to get down there due to the extreme cold, but talked a big talk to do so.) The only drawbacks that aren't even that big of a deal 1. the upstairs gets pretty warm at night, the room with the two twins is almost unbearably hot 2. getting to the porch that is an easy lead to the hot tub (have i mentioned how awesome the hot tub is?) is a trek from the rest of the house (there's a window in the kitchen that could easily convert to a door if you're thinking of any remodeling jobs guys!) but it isn't terribly difficult to walk the extra two rooms to get there. It began to snow while we were up there and were very accommodating when we were discussing if we should try to risk the trek back to the city or stay another night. Our hearts wanted to stay, but knowing there was a foot of snow on the way we decided to head home. Bud mentioned they're building an even larger property soon. Hopefully we'll be the first to book it! Thanks so much for an AMAZING New Years!
