EXCELLENT - PRIVATE WITH GREAT VIEW

5 of 5
We stayed here for the memorial day weekend in May 2014 and this place was spectacular. It is secluded with great view of the mountains. The owner gave us a tour of the place when we arrived. Had wifi and wasnt too far away from village of Lake Placid. We would certainly rent again if we were in the area.

GREAT HOME FOR A GROUP GETAWAY

4 of 5
We booked the Hector Chalet for our weekend in the Fingerlakes celebrating my husband's 40th birthday. We had a group including us and 3 other couples. The house was a perfect fit for our needs. There's plenty of room. And, the house is obviously well cared for...very clean and well-maintained. The owner was so helpful throughout the process of booking our trip and was kind enough to allow us some flexibility on our check-in time on Friday. The only drawback I can think of is that the basement section of the house had a slight musty odor when we first arrived. However, we came shortly after there had been a significant amount of rainfall in the area so it may have just been a matter of the dampness that can be expected afterwards. The dehumidifier was running when we arrived. And we no longer noticed the odor at all by the next day. Be sure to walk down to the property's lake access. The owners provided very detailed directions in the welcome binder so you should be able to find it with no problem...and it was a lovely walk. Also, the deck is huge. We enjoyed sitting out there Saturday late afternoon after we had returned from some wine tastings. It was a great spot just to relax before heading out to dinner that night. The deck would be perfect for eating 'al fresco' as well. If we had been staying longer we definitely would have planned a night to stay in and do just that. Speaking of eating, the house is just a few minutes drive from the Stone Cat Cafe. Several people had recommended it to us for dinner. Without that recommendation we would have just driven on by because it didn't look like much from the outside. But, if you're looking for delicious, local, organic cuisine with generous portions it's the place for you. We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Hector Chalet. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay on Seneca Lake.

TERRIFIC WEEK, JULY 2009

4 of 5
My husband and I spent a week at the chalet last summer and had a wonderful time. We had family guest come throughout the week and everyone loved it. The view of the lake from inside as well as on the patio is awesome. I cooked big breakfasts for everyone complimented by delicious baked goods from a local shop. The "boys" rented a boat and went fishing several time - great to be able to dock the boat right at the property. Neighboring vacationers in the main house were friendly. Chalet was clean - plenty of hot water for showers. Only problem was finding the town dump open. We are looking forward to another stay in 2010.
