RELAXING HOME AWAY FROM HOME

5 of 5
This house is quite spacious, well furnished, and tastefully decorated. The living room and tv area have ample and comfortable seating. The cable and internet service worked very well and we had no issues connecting any of our devices (computers/smartphones) during our stay. I appreciate the fact that they have a robust cable package. There is an electric fireplace that adds a nice ambiance on a cool fall night. We had many meals in the dining room with 5 people and a dinner party for 7 one night. It is a great place to have meals or even play board games as we did. The kitchen has a lot of counter and cupboard space. The two queen beds were quite comfortable and provided a great night's sleep. There is plenty of closet space to hang up your clothes and store your suitcases. The bathroom has plenty of storage space for toiletries. We liked this house because it is in easy walking distance to a park, the lake, the farmer's market (on Thursday afternoons on 1st St.), fishing on the river (you need a license), many restaurants, and Fort Ontario. If you are here in the summer or fall, DO NOT MISS the farmer's market!!! The vendors have fresh produce, baked goods, sweets, and wines from local vineyards. There are many restaurants in Oswego that have excellent food. Don't miss Bistro 197, The Red Sun Fire Roasting Co, and Alex's on the Water. There are a number of bakeries that include Canal Commons Baking, Oswego Tea Company for bread, and Oswego Bagelry. You can drive to Ontario Orchards which has some great pies and cajun peanuts. For chocolates, walk to Man on the Moon Candies. For butcher shop, drive to Bosco and Geers on East Ave. For groceries locally, drive to Price Chopper on Rt 104. The owners, Mark and Tom, are great and easy to work with. Our son (who lives locally) contacted Mark prior to our visit to inquire about the property and see if he could see the inside to inspect premises before I committed to renting because he knows how picky I am. Mark set up a time to meet my son within a day so that he could check out the house for us. My son was able to make the deposit and I paid the balance upon our arrival. We ran into Mark and Tom numerous times during our visit and they were always very friendly and personable. I also appreciate the fact that the owners are local (they live 2 blocks from this rental property). They were very accommodating and flexible during our stay and I would not hesitate to stay again in the future.

Comfortable with a gorgeous view

4 of 5
The house is located on a gravel hill, so be careful driving up. The house is absolutely in a gorgeous location. To visit there in the fall with all the changing leaves and quiet atmosphere was quite calming and relaxing. Beds were extremely comfortable and the bathroom was well kept. My one note of caution is that due to the location of the house, there will be some bugs here and there, but nothing to be alarming or out of the ordinary. It's to be expected where the house is situated.
